I’m just looking for a great new album!
Dream Theater - Metropolis pt II: Scenes from a Memory
Basically a 75 minute song. Tells a story through the whole thing, pays to listen to it multiple times.
if you’re into funk/soul, the album of the year, maybe even the last 5 years, is
D’Angelo, “Voodoo”
i’ve listened to it endless times and it remains fresh–seems like i discover something new every time. but give it a chance–it takes a while to grow on you.
Einsteurzende Neubauten-Silence is Sext
Vertical Horizon’s Everything You Want is the best album I’ve heard in a long, long time. It begins with a track that was played a lot on alternative radio stations–
We Are. Then it songs like the Everything You Want and You’re A God. The two tracks that have the most airplay so far. It has a few other catchy upbeat tunes plus a couple of more mellow tunes for a nice change of pace. This album shows the bands versatility and depth. It is definitely worth trying.
Oh man, I gotta say it…
::I shouldn’t admit it::
It’s a great album
::it’s embarrassing::
Hooray for Boobies! - The Bloodhound Gang.
I dunno if it’s the absolute best…but it’s excellent from front to back, and the first album that sprung to mind - so that’s gotta mean something…because that’s really the kind of music I really listen to.
Sparklehorse - Good Morning Spider.
1999 release, but timeless music.
“Maroon” - Barenaked Ladies
“Songs from an American Movie, Vol. 1 - Learning How to Smile” - Everclear
“Machina: The Machines of God” - The Smashing Pumpkins
Phish, “Farmhouse”
Radiohead, “Kid A”
Johnny Cash, “Love God Murder”–I bought the set, but “Murder” is the best of the three.
Dr. J
“When the Pawn…” -Fiona Apple
Either
“the better life” by 3 doors down
or
“Mer de noms” by A Perfect Circle
or
“Vapor Transmission” by Orgy
If you like minimal house music … sort of the chill-out/intelligent side of dance music, you’ll love:

losoul
And indeed much of the music distributed by EFA - see http://www.efa-medien.de/ - in German but well worth investigating.
forgive me, I can’t pick just one. So I am going to have to go with:
Granian “Hang Around” (www.granian.com)
Vertical Horizon “Everything you want” (www.verticalhorizon.com)
Matchbox twenty “Mad Season” (www.matchboxtwenty.com)
later-Gina
I can recommend a few -
Who Is Jill Scott?, Jill Scott
When the Pawn…, Fiona Apple
Kid A, Radiohead
Dr. Dre 2001, Dr Dre
And the new Sade CD, due out Nov. 17th (I DLed it all off of Napster) sounds incredible.
Happy listening.
B.B. King and Eric Clapton “Riding with the King” A great CD in every way, every song.
Modest Mouse, “The Moon and Antarctica”,
although their earlier release “Lonesome Crowded West” is somehow better.
We Aim To Satisfy by Red Snapper
I vote for:
Current 93 “Sleep Has His House”
Extaordinarily beautiful and yet oh so unsettling…
Current93 is so so weird…goth/folk/whatever…they’re awesome…Lucifer over London is my fav.
Y’all are going to hate me for this, but the only 2000 CD I’ve put in my CD player and not had to hit “Next Track” even once is
Issues
by KoRn, of course.
From track one all the way to sixteen, it is awesome.
