Glen’s the man of the hour, he’s the king of his cube!
Status Quo reports have finally met their rival.
Burning the candle at both ends on his way to the top,
He knows one day he just could become…
I still laugh every time I think about that “Glen! Glen! Glen!” commercial. That was great.
Worst: “London Calling” in a Jaguar ad. I’ve been disgusted by these total misunderstandings so many times (“Fortunate Son” in a Tommy Hilfiger spot, etc.)that it doesn’t even make me angry anymore; it just makes me feel tired.
The Burt Reynolds Super Bowl ad this year for Fed Ex - he was just one of a bunch of “required Super Bowl ad elements”, and I think he fought a bear, didn’t he? Anyway, if you’re going to sell out, be funny.
I think the “Fortunate Son” ad was for something like JCPenney or some other mid-level brand (Wrangler?), not Tommy Hilfiger.
Zsofia, I thought that was one of the funniest commercials during this year’s Super Bowl. Go easy on Burt, from the review I read of the new Longest Yard, he is happy to get a job.
We’ve discussed this before somewhere on these Boards. A Google search suggests that both Wrangler and Hilfiger used the song, which seems pretty weird to me. I’m certain that the ads i remember seeing on TV were for Wrangler.
That is fucking hilarious. I had never seen it before. When did it play?
Wow! Well done Crandolph san! I knew about very famous actors doing commercials in Japan and other countries because it was assumed people in America would never see the results. I was always curious to see the ads they did, Thank OG for the Internet!
You all have to check the Governator Arnold heating teapots with muscle power alone!
mhendo: the Starbucks Glen Commercial appeared around the fall last year.
One of my favorites is Randy Newman’s “This is My Country,” used to sell insurance. The actual song is a scathing piece about the breakdown of the American family, as furthered by television. He has a real knack for selling satire to people who don’t get it. More power to him…
The only time i’ve ever found him entertaining was when he did Monday Night Football, mainly because he made Al Michaels and John Madden shutup for a while.
I saw this post yesterday, and then saw that Starbucks is at it again. This time they’ve taken Rock n Roll part 2 (The HEY! Song) and replace with “Hank!” and if I recall it is also for doubleshot.
