Best Beatles Song?

Just for you: She’s Leaving Home

I can’t even narrow it to ten, so no vote from me.

What? No one mentions “I’ve Just Seen A Face”? Terrible!

Well I see my faves haven’t been represented yet…

Back In The USSR

Lady Madonna

Saw Her Standing There

Hey there, Falling Reverend, I voted for “I Saw Her Standing There” upthread a ways. You know, “I Want to Hold Your Hand” is lots of fun too.

I think that it is apparent that:

Every single Beatles song is the best Beatles song (for someone).

I do note, however that not one single person has voted for “Long and Winding Road”, and the grotesque Phil Specter orchestral arrangements that went along with it. I was unaware of this until recently, but apparently the overdubbing on this song was cited by McCartney as one of the 6 reasons for breaking up the band.

Get Back
Lady Madonna
Back in the USSR
Penny Lane

Really, no way to pick!

My girls and I saw 1964: The Tribute tonight, and had the BEST time.

Yes Spector can take his “wall of sound” and shove it up his ass. The version on Let it be…Naked is much better.

I think it’s Paul doing the barking at the end of hey Bulldog. Great song.

I was going to say She’s Leaving Home but the song that my friends and I played on the jukebox most often was the B side of Let It Be, the brilliant You Know My Name (Look Up the Number), McCartney’s favorite Beatles track.

Help

Love that song!!!

That is a completely unappreciated, unknown piece of brilliance. That’s a song I think many Beatles fans may not even know about.

With Brian Jones on sax, no less!

Oh god, I love that track. “Good evening, and welcome to Slaggers!”
The Goon Show influence is very evident on that one.

Uhhhhh… REALLY?

Care for a cite?

EDIT: MY bad… Carry on…

I agree this is a gorgeous song. I also love ‘‘Yes It Is.’’ Some of the songs people are listing as favorites I only regard as mediocre. It just goes to show what a broad and varied appeal The Beatles had. And even their mediocre stuff is great.

[whispering]I think some people are being deliberately perverse.[/whispering]

I’ll second “Penny Lane” and add “I Will.”

So, so many. Like other posters have mentioned, it depends on what I’m listening to right now.

But partly to make Euphonious Polemic update his list with a previously unmentioned song (unless I missed it), and partly because it would land in my top ten, I’ll say

Hello, Goodbye

In My Life.
