Best Christmas Album

The Christmas albums that end up in heavy rotation in my house are:
[ul]
[li]The Alligator Records Christmas Album. Accomplished Blues men and women make this album a classic. The highlight? Tinsley Ellis singing Santa Claus Wants Some Lovin’.[/li][li]Boney M Christmas. Cheesy, but fun nonetheless.[/li][li]Ray Charles Christmas. Ray-ized versions of the classic carols. He does a great Rudolph, the red nosed reindeer[/li][li]James Brown-Santa’s got a Brand New Bag. How can you argue with the godfather of soul?[/li][/ul]

What are your favourite Christmas albums?

The Christmas ablums that get plated most often at my house are:

“Christmas Island” by Leon Redbone. I just love that man’s voice.

“Bob River’s Twisted Christmas” I & II

I don’t actually like Christmas music much. Over the years I’ve tried to find albums I enjoy, but so much is just treacly and cloying, or overtly religious, or both.

Johnny Mathis Christmas Album
A Celtic Christmas featuring the Clancy Brothers

I love Charo’s Xmas album, just so I can listen to “Silent Night” and hear her tell us to “slip in heavenly piss.”

The Muppets’ Christmas Album. No question.

A Charlie Brown Christmas - Vince Guaraldi Trio
Christmas Album - Amy Grant
How The Grinch Stole Christmas - narrated by Boris Karloff
