Best Ever Animation???

There are many candidates for this one,but my vote has to go to “Wallace And Gromit” as created by Nick Park…just simply incredible!!,who dares to disagree??

Please forgive me i’m English!

A cartoon could have the best animation and a pathetic script, therefore rendering it unwatchable.

Give me Animaniacs, Simpsons, or Rocky and Bullwinkle anyday.

Well, shut my mouth. It’s also illegal to put squirrels down your pants for the purposes of gambling.

Gotta go with Fantasia… there is something about that mouse that just does it for me. =)

Best animation: I’m partial to anything Pixar does.

Best writing for an animation: Simpsons

?!?!?!?!: Urotsukidoji (Legend of the Overfiend)

Computers have let mankind make mistakes faster than any other invention, with the possible exception of tequila and handguns.

Wallace and gromit is good.

I also like Akira and Wicked City for the animation

Prince of Egypt was pretty good as well, the use of the computer animation wasn’t overwhelming like when diseny uses it. In the disney flicks it always LOOKS like 2d on 3d

How do you like that! And without so much as a “Kiss my foot” or “Have an apple”!

actually it’s Uristukodoji

the animation isn’t as good as akira or wicked city though… but it is one hell of a film… I have it on DVD

other good Anime are Record of Lodoss war and LA Blue Girl

Oh, the early Betty Boops–bizarre, unbeatable.

Anyone here ever see “Gate Beyond the Mind’s Eye”? Incredibly cool graphics going along with great music.

Hayao Miyazake (My Neigbour Tortoro, Princess Mononoke). Very intelligent stories (for cartoons.)

Tex Avery.

Sorry, in previous post I mentioned something that was made by computer, but then again so is most of today’s animation IIRC.

Comparing Wallace and Gromit to traditional animation is comparing two different things.

W&G are by far the best ever stop-action animation. Superb technically (the chase on the railroad tracks in THE WRONG TROUSERS is breathtaking), and great storytelling and humor.

But animated drawings are another issue. Rocky and Bullwinkle were very well written, but technically crude. I tend to find anime overrated and quite weak from a technical standpoint (the pictures look real nice, but they don’t move very well, and in some cases are little better than “Clutch Cargo”). Disney, OTOH, is always strong technically, even when the rest is only so-so.

If I had to pick one animated film, I’d probably go with MULAN. For TV, it’d be GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE, which had all the strengths of Rocky and Bullwinkle and better animation.

But you knew it was a dangerous job with you took it, Fred.

I agree with Chuck.

I love Pixar’s stuff - I wish all these other CG animated movies would hurry up and get released so we can have some variety out there. (I didn’t like Antz so much, it seemed a bit rushed)

But Tarzan’s Deep Canvas was very very cool, even if a surfing Tarzan was a pretty silly idea really.

Nick Park’s stop-motion animation is in a world of its own, unsurpassed by anyone, though envied by so many. Comic timing is the key to successful animation and he (and Pixar) has it down.

The Legend Of PigeonMan - updates every Wed & Sat. If I can be bothered.

I’ll definitely side with BMU and Akira. Awesome script, post apocalyptic Neo-Tokyo with lots of action, drama, tradgedy and even some love. Not to mention tele-, pyro- and every other -kinetic power there is

My favorite part is when the three children from the laboratory attack Tetsuo in his hospital room. That part is easily one of the best animation sequences ever!

UncleBeer,

Great call on The Maxx. I loved that show.

SRV,

I’ve seen it. Thought it was great. Very trippy.

Has anyone seen an animated short on Liquid Television called “The Race”? It looked to be Japanimation, but I could be wrong. It focussed on this futuristic race where the racers used cetrifical force to stick to the walls of the racetrack. The winner goes so fast his nose begin to bleed and his ship breaks apart from the force. Or maybe that was just some dream I had.

OH, OH, and I almost forgot about “Aeon Flux”

OK, I’m done.

Sorry Wiggum but “The Race” was a different story. The racer that bleeds is the longest survivor of the race that rountinely kills its drivers. The reporter finds out that the guy actually has telekinetic powers that keep him alive but are slowly killing him. He stills uses them because he can win with them. In his last race, the guy hallucinates that a ghost (which is actually himself) is beating him and he uses his mind to its fullest to try and catch up to him. In doing so, he kills every other driver and then himself as he succeeds in closing in on the ghost racer.

A very haunting tale and one I am still seeking for my personal collection.

Highly recommended for everyone that can get it

I liked the animation in all of the Tool music videos. Does that count? (The ‘Meat Tube’ video is f’n crazy!)
