Best fast food breakfast that can be eaten in the car...

…though not necessarily while driving. For example, this would eliminate the McD’s Big Breakfast, which is a knife and fork project.

When I’m running late to school or work, McD’s sausage egg biscuit is my fallback. Lately I’ve gotten tired of how much sage they put in the sausage. I never stop at Wendy’s, Jack in the B, Burger King, etc., 'cause I’m just not familiar with their brekkie offerings. When you get in that drive-through line, you better know what you want. I feel like I need to study their menus online before I go live, as it were. Better still: I’ll ask the SDMB, source of all food-related (and other) wisdom/experience.

What do y’all recommend? Or if you can’t actively recommend, what do you think isn’t so bad when you’re in a hurry, are broke, and promise not to do it too often?

McDonalds Bacon and Egg Bagel, because there’s either some Hollandaise-esque sauce they use, or some sort of butter substance from the bagel drips into the egg and makes its own sauce. Yum.

I hesitate to recommend any fast food breakfast for health reasons…

That said I adore McDonalds sausage egg McMuffins, and unlike the biscuit sandwiches they don’t crumble all over my lap. BK’s ham and egg croissanwich is a close second.

Also, more spendy, is just about any of the Starbucks breakfast sandwiches or wraps.

McDonalds I go for a #10 - which around here is two breakfast burritos, hashbrown and beverage. At BK I usually go for a Ham, Egg and Cheese Croissandwich (or what ever it’s called). At Jack in the Box I usually get a Jumbo Jack (yes, it’s a burger - you can get them 24 hours a day). I haven’t seen a Wendy’s that served breakfast since the mid 80’s. The local one opens at 9 AM, though, so I can get an early burger there.

BK or Sonic’s sausage crusantwich.

Barring that, I go for McD’s sausage mcgriddle.

DD Wake Up wraps are pretty yummy, easy to hold in one hand, fairly healthy and come in a few varieties.

BK’s Cross’andwich. Croissant, sausage, egg, cheese (or bacon egg and cheese, or whatever combo you want).

They are smaller than they used to be which is good - much easier to eat with one hand in the car.

BK’s orange juice is also WAY cheaper than McDonald’s.

Sometimes I can’t resist a chorizo y papas burrito from AM/PM.

Oh man that is one thing I really miss about living out west…

Dunkin Donuts has a tolerable everything bagel with veggie cream cheese. Make sure it’s toasted, though – otherwise you don’t have anything approaching an actual bagel. If your Bruegger’s has the item, go there instead.

I’m a big fan of Hardee’s (or Carl’s Jr., depending on US region) biscuits. They can be crumbly, but the biscuit itself is far superior to either McD or BK.

If you didn’t eat anything the day before and don’t plan on eating anything more that day, I’d suggest a JitB Meaty Burrito. Not otherwise, though.

Wendy’s doesn’t serve breakfast, so that’s right out.

I usually love a sausage and egg biscuit but the last few times I’ve gotten one from McD’s or BK, I felt nauseated for half the day (and this is coming from someone who can tolerate a large amount of fast food).

I recommend getting the hash browns at BK (the little bites are so superior to the McDonald’s puck o’ grease), then driving over to McD’s and getting the Cinnamon Melts. It’s a little tray of cinnamon rolls swimming in butter and icing, and yes, it’s actually pretty good. It makes BK’s Cini-minis look like a pile of puke.

McD’s sausage and egg buiscuit is my standard fallback for when I’m late for work and hungry in the morning.

DD’s sausage, egg and cheese croissant is the much nastier (in a good way) fall-back. Way heavier, but I do like DD’s coffee more than McD’s, so it’s always tempting.

The Carl’s Jr. Loaded Breakfast Burrito. Look at that thing, its a monster. Eggs, cheese, hash browns, ham, and sauce. The best part: ask them for some salsa to put on, at least 2 packets, they’re free, and smother them on every bite

Looks great but I couldn’t eat something like that in the morning. It’s all I can do to make myself drink my daily protein shake. But I do love breakfast at other times of day. I love seeing All Day Breakfast on a menu.

Every now and then I get the urge for 2 McD’s sausage McMuffins with egg. I usually regret it about 4 hours later when my intestines dissolve, but they’re SO GOOD.

How can there be anything particularly evil in egg-biscuit-sausage? That’s something you would make at home.

Thanks for the ideas. I thought we had a pretty good selection of fast food places around here, but I’m hearing names I’ve never heard of. Don’t have Hardees or Carl’s Jr. Used to have Dunkin, but it went away. Oh well… maybe when the railroad comes and they establish the Pony Express and telegraph, we’ll get some of the stuff y’all have in the big city. :frowning:

Or you could just do gruel. That’s my typical commuting breakfast. 1/2 cup of quick oats, a squeeze of imitation maple syrup (or cranberry jam or whatever), and two cups of water in a container. Microwave it, covered, for three minutes. Drink it down the road. It’s hot, filling, and healthy.

(But you can see why I need the occasional chorizo y papas burrito.)

McDonalds - Southern Style Chicken Biscuit

Nothing to drip in your lap. It’s just a biscuit and a juicy piece of white chicken meat.
