Best fight scene

Either in the movies or on TV. I would have to go with Bruce Lee Vs. Chuck Norris in Return of the Dragon. A second would be Rocky and Apollo in the Rocky movies. How about anyone else?

Not the best but a good vote has to be given to Edward Norton versus himself in Fight Club.

I’d have to go with They Live and the fight scene between Roddy Piper and Keith David. Truely inspired carnage.

Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader in Star Wars
Luke Skywalker vs. Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back
Luke Skywalker vs. Darth Vader & The Emperor in Return of the Jedi
Qui-Gon Jinn vs. Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace
Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace
Happy Gilmore vs. Bob Barker in Happy Gilmore “Looks like the price is wrong, bitch!”
Liu Kang vs. Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat

EvilBeth:I have yet to see Fight Club :frowning:

Dr. Lao:That movie did come to mind, I love that part

rastahomie:Its all good.

I liked Cage vs Scorpion, in Mortal Combat
Neo vs Agent Smith in the Subway in The Matrix

Jean Claude in Kickboxing… that was good.
Jackie Chan, in just about everything, but my Fave is Rumble in the Bronx, the scene against the gang with the pinball machines and all.

Damnit! Dr. Lao beat me to They Live. (You don’t think this is the best fight scene? Do you know it lasts for ten minutes?)
So I like Rocky fights. They may be unrealistic, but they hold dramatic tension.
I also couldn’t honestly say that I’ve never seen better fights than in Jackie Chan movies. The last twenty minutes of Drunken Master anybody?
So, in a poor pathetic sort of manner, I’d like to submit the final fight in Mission Impossible 2. I don’t think it’s the best, but is the only fight scene I’ve seen in a major motion picture that looks like every blow actually hurt a lot.
Also, I know I’m a fanboy for saying this, but the fight scenes in Matrix are amazing.
Okay, all you serious connoisseurs can get to discussing the true scense now.

Mofo, you beat me to it. Last 20 minutes of Drunken Master II it is. I’m also fond of the “football game” from Romeo Must Die.

Why the :frowning: face? There’s no spoiler there. I promise!

Have to agree with Dr Lao. Re ‘Drunken Master’… what about the end fight scene in ‘Who Am I?’. Unbelievable!

Any big fight scene from Dragon, Enter the Dragon or Return of the Dragon.

I have yet to see good form, technique etc from both parties in a martial arts-tone fight in any other movie. That would make a good fight. I tire of seeing one person go through people effortlessly.

In the “other fight” category: Will Hunting vs. that prick he went to school with for psychological reasons.

Nothing else comes to mind that I can’t either predict or is good.

The most realistic fight in a movie has to be in Gross Pointe Blank, IMO.

My favorite fight scene ever is Jackie Chan in “Who am I” fighting two guys on the roof of a building. Very comic and action packed.

Not counting martial arts sequences (that means the Matrix too):

I’d also have to agree with Fight Club, when he’s in his boss’ office. I gotta buy that movie on DVD.

The fight at the end of The Quiet Man, for sheer duration and distance covered.

The best, bar none: Wesley vs. Inigo from * The Princess Bride.*

And in all honesty, despite all the other flaws of the movie, the lightsaber duel at the climax of The Phantom Menace is unforgettable.

As I’ve mentioned before, the climactic shootout of The Law and Jake Wade is fantastic.

I love the final swordfights in both versions of The Prisoner of Zenda. The swordsmanship is much more impressive in the Stewart-Mason version, but the taunts from the Coleman-Fairbanks version are delicious.

Watch Fist of Legend with Jet Li. The fight between him and the old Japanese sensei is awesome, especially when they blindfold themselves. Actually, all the fight scenes in that movie are cool, but thats the best one.

…anything Jackie Chan has done post-1990…

…anything Jet Li has ever done…

the Matrix scene where they bust into the building to rescue Morpheus (I can’t believe no one has mentioned that)…

Fight Club Tyler Durdin vs. Narrator (end fight sequence, I think it’s the shoe that does it for me)…

more later…
broccoli!

The final duel in Scaramouche.
Any of Danny Kaye’s marvelous Italian sabre technique from The Court Jester.

In addition to some of the wonderful possibilities mentioned above.

Saw the title of the thread, first thing I thought. But of course somebody got there before me (immediatly I guess).

Definatly the fight scene buy which all subsequent Hollywood fight scenes should be judged by. For a lot of reasons.
