What is your favorite fight scene?

I have been on a kung fu kick lately and thanks to youtube, I can dive deep into a squeeing delight watching:
Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao in Dragons Forever The spinkick that Jackie does on Sammo Hung -the big guy - is lightening fast. Its so farking awesome, duuuuude. It is an extra special squee after I’ve read Jackie Autobiography and learned that these three attended the Chinese Opera, which was a grueling training program that was complete with beatings and horrible sleeping & food.
Gary Busey & Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon, I always enjoyed as well.

Jackie Chan vs. Benny UrquidezGood stuff
Jackie Chan vs Brad Allen It is nearly balletic.

Gary Busey & Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon, I always enjoyed as well, until I got into martial arts stuff, which makes this look like a school yard scrum.

The Quiet Man, McLintock**!**, and Chisum were always some of my favorite fights.

You really need to break this down by category. For example, my favorite sword-fights are: Princess Bride, The Four Musketeers (at the convent at the end), and The Great Race (both fights).

Kung-fu: Nothing will ever beat Enter the Dragon.

Happy Gilmore vs. Bob Barker. Can’t find a decent copy of it, but it’s probably on YouTube somewhere

I’m fond of several of the Jet Li vs. Jet Li fights from the otherwise forgettable The One.

Not that everyone shares my opinion, but I really liked the Neo vs. 100 Agent Smiths (the “Burly Brawl”) from The Matrix Reloaded.

And of course you can’t go wrong with Bruce Lee vs. Chuck Norris.

If wrestling counts, I vote for the firelit nude wrestling scene between Alan Bates and Oliver Reed in Women in Love. Yow! Just remembering it gives me goosebumps.

Does it have to be kung-fu?

If not, then my all time favourite would be Alabama VS the hit man in True Romance. Just flawless. You cringe when he’s punching her around and it’s hard to watch, and then only gets worse as she loses it and just completely takes him out.

Bruce Lee Vs. Chuck Norris Jesus, Chuck is so furry.

All kinds of fight scenes. I’m just completely hooked on martial arts right now.

Hai YA!

James Garner and Bruce Lee in The Little Sister.
On the roof garden of a skyscraper. Phillip Marlowe (Garner) jumps on the wall, Lee does some kick/leap at him. Marlowe steps off the wall, grabs a service ladder and Lee falls to the street.

I love the scene in Kill Bill when the Bride fights O-Ren in the snow. I absolutely love every moment of that fight. The only thing I dislike about the scene is that it is too short.

The music that accompanies, is perfect. I am a huge fan of Rza, who did the music. I find the whole scene just beautiful.

They Live

That is all.

Oops! Google corrects me. It seems Rza did not do the song for that particular scene…

"Don’t let me be misunderstood " is the name of the song, made popular by an artist named Nina Simone.

What does he see when he puts on the glasses!!! I gots to know!!!
Is it Black Lectrodes from Planet 9 or 10 or something?

It has been a long time but I think the glasses show whether or not someone is an alien.

The “Battle of Carthage” from Gladiator

Ooooh, good one.

All the fight scenes from Kill Bill’s 1 & 2 deserve mention.

And they don’t all have to be martial arts based right? Rober DeNiro and Leonardo DiCaprio mix it up nicely in This Boy’s Life.

And if we can broaden the entrants even further, say what you want about the rest of the movie but the light saber duel between Qui Gon Jinn / Obi Wan vs. Darth Maul in the Phantom Menace remains the best fight sequence of the entire series.

Preach it brother/sister…although I have to confess a certain fondness for the Timmy vs. Jimmy homage in the “Cripple Fight” episode of South Park.

A few of my favorites :

Visual media :

Vicious versus Spike, Cowboy Bebop.

Neo versus Robocop.

Fom books :

From Honor Among Enemies, Aubrey Wanderman annihilating Steilman.

Honor Harrington & Nimitz versus the assassin horde in The Honor of the Queen.

From Creatures of Light and Darkness, Wakim versus the Steel General, and Set versus Jehovah.

From comics, Thor versus the the Midgard Serpent.

Skurge the Executioner versus Hela’s army at the Gjallerbru, Thor.
