What is the easiest way to make a basic sketch of something and attach it to a post?
You can’t. The SDMB has disabled the posting of images. If you want to post a sketch, you have to host it elsewhere (e.g. Photobucket) and link to it.

There are lots of them, all free for basic service; the choice is yours. Picasaweb, Photobucket, Tinypic, Flickr, etc. Just set up an account and upload your pic, then link to it.
Personally I use Picasaweb because the photo client is so good.
www.tinypic.com is the fastest, because they have no signup requirement. The only downside of that is that pictures cannot be removed.
