I remember the Simpsons doing a parody as well! Yea! I’m just trying to find the actual cartoons where the character shows up.
For some reason, I thought that was supposed to be The Great Gildersleeve.
“Name?”
“Shropshire Slasher.”
“Occupation?”
“Shropshire Slasher.”
“Monsters are such in-teresting people!”
“Never send a monster to do the work of an Evil Scientist!”
“I’m going to blow up the Earth. It obstructs my view of Venus.”
“So this is Gay Par-ee,
come on along with me,
we’re stepping out to see
the Latin Quarter!
Put on your French beret,
we’ll sing the Marsellaise,
and guzzle wine just like
it’s water!”
Unfortunately, most of my favorite moments are from cartoons that have been banned, e.g., “Has you got … dice?” and “Thanks fo’ th’ lift, boys!” :o
“Instant Secretary: Just add water. BLONDE, BRUNETTE, REDHEAD.”
Leopold!
For those who are interested, the initial musical battle between Bugs and Giovanni Jones has a parallel in real life. In 1931, two guests at a fashionable hotel in Los Angeles were in nearby bungalows and each hoping to have an uninterrupted weekend to practice their respective instruments. But each was making too much noise for the other to concentrate until one of them asked to be moved.
They were Harpo Marx and Sergei Rachmaninoff. Harpo won.
In Henpecked Duck, Daffy is ordered by his wife to sit on the egg until she returns. He loses the egg and, panicking, substitutes a white doorknob. He goes to jump on the egg, and just as he’s about to land, the doorknob rolls around so that the shaft is sticking straight up. Daffy’s reaction when he sits on it is priceless. The sequence starts at about 5:30.
This one made me laugh out loud when I read it; so it gets my vote!
Either that or the times Yosemite Sam shoots his guns so fast it raises him off the floor!

Let’s see you say that fast three times in a row! ![]()
I personally love the piano battle between Daffy and Donald Duck in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. I just watched it again today for the 100 zillionth time, and I still laughed when Donald slammed that lid on top of Daffy.
A kid watching tv asks why the coyote wants to catch the roadrunner. “A legitimate question, young man, and one that deserves a legitimate answer.”
“Bugs Bunny come to Martinique
When he arrive, he was pretty weak
His knees look like dey were buck-el-lin’
His tribulations caused by a pen-goo-in
Now dey building a boat on which dey both can leave
Dey hope that fickle Fate have nutting up her sleeve”
Humphrey Bogart: “Pardon me, but can you help out a fellow American who’s down on his luck?”
Bugs digs out a quarter and tosses it to him. “Hit da road!”
Continues song:
“If dey can accomplish dis daring ding,
Americal to Martinque Bugs de bring!”
Bugs’ “magic incantation” as the genie (“The Light Brown Hare”) and Daffy’s blood-in-his-eye reaction:
“‘Ickity-ackity ook.’ ‘Oh-oh squeak, ahh-ahh ppffft!’”
I put that on a t-shirt for a buddy of mine as a birthday present. I thought he was going to have a accident.
Bugs Bunny’s adrift in a barrel, tossing carrot tops overboard and singing “As Time Goes By”:
“Woman needs man, and man must have his mate …”
[Looks over the top of the barrel and breaks the fourth wall]
“Ain’t it the ta-ruth!”
Daffy after the umpteenth time Elmer has shot him crawling to Bugs and leveraging himself up, says: “You’re Despicable” in the absolutely perfect voice.
And after the election, Sam and Bugs find out the winner is a
*“Dark Horse?”
“Mare?”*
Something subtle I noticed. In most Looney Tunes cartoons whenever somebody falls down the stairs you’ll hear them yell “Eee, ooh, eew.” But every once in awhile you’ll hear them yell. " A, e. i, o, u. "
This seems to be the thread that will not die. But, as long as it is active again… “Pen-ga-win’s is practically chickens!”
I use that one whenever the word penguin comes up in conversation. Which happens more often than you would think.
Hassan CHOP!
We have an analyst here called Leopold and any time his name comes up I am compelled to say “Leopold!” in a faux German accent. Clearly no one knows why I do it and I often wonder what they *think *I’m referencing.
This thread is cracking me up as I’m reminded of all these great cartoon moments. I quote Looney Tunes so often it’s ridiculous.
“This is the last time I work with somebody with a speech impediment!”
This thread reminds me that I have the Golden Anniversary box set. We have the grandchildren with us tomorrow and Sunday; I think a thorough indoctrination is in order. Earlier posts in this thread had me laughing so hard that I cried. Bugs Bunny Forever!
