Best pics from 2008

I’d like to share my best pics of 2008.

Downtown Derry, NH on a cold winter night:

Anyone have any they want to share?

I’m a fan of this one.

Lazy bear at the Bronx zoo.

Cool pics, sparky!

Can’t open yours, TheMerchandise.

I’m glad you started this thread. I just came across this picture last night, and maybe I’m prejudiced since she is mine, but I think it’s gorgeous.

My brother and sister-in-law, stationed in Afghanistan. They’re home safe and sound, now. They were both in the reserves, and he got called up. She volunteered to go with him.

I’m very proud.

I love the Derry, NH photo in the OP!

I didn’t take many photos in 2008. But I can never resist a photo thread, so from this year’s files I have judiciously selected the components of a triptych* of me, my husband and my friend in various combinations in bed together. Our as yet unrealized plan is to put this set together in one frame and display it prominently, because we stupidly think this would be amusing. Note: This is totally, disappointingly safe for work.

Yes, I know. Hah-hah-hah. Middle-aged people have a lame sense of humor. Sad really.

  • A triptych is supposed to be three panels, not four. Please fight my ignorance and tell me if there is a word for four panels.

This shot of an eagle in flight was certainly one of my best photos this past year. It was quite a thrill to finally catch one in the air with good lighting.

This one stirs the old patriotic juices!

I guess you can tell what I like to shoot whenever possible.

I’d love to see them, but you’ve made them private.

OK, let’s try that again:

Patriotic eagle

Quadriptych I think. Or a work of multiple panels can be called a polyptych.

Spectacular.

Kill about five of those cars, and perfect.

Otherwise, an excellent, excellent, picture.

This was the year of event photography for me, so I’m going with that.

I’m very slowly trying to pioneer a style that is formalist enough for Pictorialists but has enough of an anti-aesthetic/rythym that the feeling of the show isn’t lost.

Definitely the first image in this video.

The kid next door with one of his family’s new puppies.

Not mine but last week I happened by chance upon The Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2008 I was kind of gob smacked by the photos taken by children.

Another friend, at same wedding.

I can’t recall whether it was me or my brother who took this as we were both using the same camera:

Oh. I like that one! Hard to take a bad pic in Ireland.

Here’s one from Cathedral Ledge in North Conway, NH:

Believe me, I’ve taken plenty.
