Pineapple and ham pizza is god’s way of saying, “All that ‘sin’ stuff aside, I still love you.”
I’ve been digging Domino’s Philly Cheesesteak pizza for a while now. Their onions kind of suck, but everything else is good.
Chicken alfredo with spinach. When I was pregnant, I couldn’t get enough of Pizza Hut’s stuffed crust with “like, a gross amount of cheese” and nothing else. Freschetta’s “Vegetable Primavera” is okay. Umm, anything supreme, especially with tons and tons of peppers.
For good ol’ American pizzas, I like sausage, onions, green peppers and mushrooms. Thin crust.
For Italian-style pizzas (which I can’t find anywhere in Chicago At least nothing good.) it’s probably quattro stagiani (“Four seasons,” I think), or four pizzas in one. One quarter artichoke hearts, one quarter mushrooms, one quarter olives, one quarter prosciutto (ingredients may vary), all with tomato and mozzarella on a thin, wood-oven baked crust. This is fabulous stuff. Or Pizza Cappricciosa, with tomato, mozzarella, anchovies, olives, artichoke hearts, musrooms, and oregano. Mama mia! I wish I could get this stuff around here, I really do. I’m burnt out on Chicago-style pizza, and even Chicago thin crust is drowning in sauce and cheese…
The tried-and-true favorite: pepperoni, sausage, onions, peppers. (I love mushrooms, but they upset my stomach almost immediately upon eating them.)
Nice substitutes: genoa salami, meatballs (crumbled), fresh basil leaves (a new favorite of mine).
The Cheeseburger: ground beef, onions, bacon, jalapeno peppers.
The Jerk: jerk chicken, spicy barbecue sauce (instead of marinara sauce), gouda cheese, red onion, pineapple, jalapeno peppers. (This works well with baby shrimp too.)
Always put on parmesan cheese and lots of crushed red pepper flakes!
Pepperoni and all the mushrooms. No one will miss those mushrooms, so give them all to me. Failing that, extra cheese is the best, though I suffer horribly later.
Good Og! I couldn’t easily spend 50 bucks on a small pizza alone! Plus, I’m sure there are more I’m forgetting. I just don’t get to eat gourmet much, so I’m pretty limited by what plazes like Pizza Hut have to offer.
Thin crust, a whole lot o’ cheese, sausage, mushrooms, with parmesian cheese and red pepper flakes splinkled on top.
Second choice: White clam pizza. Usually clams, cheese, garlic, sometimes onions or mushrooms, and NEVER tomato sauce. Tomato sauce + clam = bad stuff. Very bad stuff.
