My wife and I need a vacation. We just got back from one with the kids and decided we need 2 or 3 days to ourselves.
We don’t really care where we go, just so we can relax and enjoy each other’s company.
So what are your tactics and resources for finding last minute travel deals? Any websites that are particularly good? Hotel for sure, maybe a flight if the price is right. We are in Richmond, VA which I believe is the most expensive airport in the nation.
Lots of great deals now - you can get good rooms for good prices.
You could just hang out by the pool, or see a few shows, or eat in a good restaurant or one of the better buffets.
You wouldn’t be bored - and there are always quick, last-minute specials to snap up.
Plus, can’t think of a better place for an “adult” get away!
Most of the airlines have last minute deals that they publish Monday or Tuesday of each week to clear out lightly-booked flights for the coming weekend. Check the websites.
On the higher end, www.jetsetter.com has what are often substantial near-term discounts on high end hotels.
I second Vegas, though for the really cheap prices (and I mean really cheap – these days you might see four star hotels on the Strip for well under $100) you need to go midweek and avoid Friday-Saturday.
I’ve been surprised at the difference searching for “packages” (airfare and hotel) makes. It’s like you’re getting either the hotel or air free.
We planned a basic vacation to Florida, but after discovering the package deals on Priceline and Expedia, ended up in Puerto Vallarta for almost the same price!
