Best sounding city you have never been to.

Although I like Savannah, I heard on the radio last week that it is the city in the US with the biggest decline in population over the last x years (10, maybe). So the natives don’t think much of it.

snicker

Trust me, it’s not nearly as much fun as it sounds.

No Walla Walla?

Rome, Italy

Athens, Greece

Sydney, Australia

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Helsinki is extremely cool.
So are San Francisco, Vancouver and Montréal.

I live in Toronto.

I want to see Perth and Sydney (Australia); Whitby (England); Albuquerque (New Mexico, USA); Tokyo and Kyoto (Japan); Curitaiba, Petropolis, Riberão Preto and Rio de Janeiro (Brasil); and Cape Town (South Africa)…

Whitby is a nice place, but it is surprising to see it on the list of someone who lives 4,000 miles away. Why Whitby?

Question:

is the OP asking what city we’ve never been to that sounds like a cool place to go

or

is the question which cities we’d want to visit because they have a cool-sounding name?

Too many to list.

Chicago, for starters.

amarone, I grew up in Whitby, Ontario. In grade sevem, a teacher gave us a slide show of a visit to Whitby, England, and I’ve been curious ever since.

Noo Yawk. Definitely Noo Yawk.

Seconded.

Troy McClure, Chicago is indeed well worth a visit.

But, do they dare to confront the ineffable?

The best-sounding city I’ve ever been to (in terms of overwhelming aural stimuli) is New Orleans.
