Best Stage names?

So some of you know I’m a DJ for the college station, and I’m taking the show more and more serious, (Got my own intro and stuff!) But now I’m wondering if stardom does ever come, do I really want to use my real name? I mean come on, isn’t part of being a DJ having the cool name to say on air?

Now I guess I should mention I do the morning classics to help Atlantan’s not die of frustration as they idle down the interstate. Monday Mornings on 91.1 fm in case you’re curious to listen in.

So in any case, DJ name? yes no? Make one up or steal cool names like “Walter Cronkite” or “Strong bad” or “Cowboy Neal” or “Cecil Adams” or something like that?

Right now I’m leaning towards keeping my first name, Patrick, and finding a cool name that gives it a good ring - any ideas?

ronincyberpunk, we have a DJ in Kalamazoo, MI that goes by the name Scotty “Bud” Melman, but everyone just calls him “Scotty Bud”. The name works out great for him. Perhaps you need to do the same type of thing. It doesn’t even need to go between the first and last names, but a good nickname would be great to add to your current name.

Just an idea here, but perhaps you could use part of your SDMB name. Something like, "“The Ronin” Patrick WhateverYourLastNameIs or even, Patrick “Cyberpunk” WhateverYourLastNameIs.

A good nickname should reflect your interests. Do you have any interests that you’ve spoken about to your listeners? A particular genre of music that you like to play or perhaps you like talking about a particular kind of sport while on the air? Use that or some derivative.

Whatever you use, let us know what you decide on. You have me curious.

Royston Vasey.

Venus Flytrap, of course.

StG

Patrick E. Ricardo

And for Og’s sake, if you do use a nickname that you got from here, be sure and mention that you got it from the SDMB!!!

So far my thoughts were centering around replacing the last name, and right now I think I’ve come up with one I like. It rolls rather well off my tongue. “Patrick Silvain” – Thoughts? Opinions?

I’m still trying to come up with the nickname part of the name. The show I do is called “Roll Over Beethoven” and it’s the morning classics from 6 to 9. But I’m trying to break the mold of the other classics shows by not being the monotone voice on the other end.

So far, it seems to be working fairly well. I think.

Sadly, “Rat Scabies” is already spoken for.

Ottiwell Wood, spelled “O double T I double U E double L double U double O D.”

I love this.

Also, on our local public radio station, we have the BEST RADIO NAME EVER:

Vic Di Geronimo.

The “Di” is pronounced “D” (or “dee”), not “die,” and I always thought it was an initial, until I just went to look it up on their website right now.

Vic D Geronimo. Beautiful. (Note: I dunno if it’s a stage name or not. My bet is that it is.)
