Best Steak at Peter Luger's?

I am in New York and will be at Peter Luger’s on Saturday. What is the best cut of steak that they have? I know this might be a matter of opinion but what do YOU like there?

I am pretty sure that their most famous cut is a Porterhouse - what is that, like T-Bone and New York strip all in one cut?

Whatever it was, it was wonderful. Enjoy.

Peter Luger’s signature steak is the porterhouse. It is the New York (or Kansas City) strip on one side, and the tenderloin (filet mignon) on the other. Usually, you order this for more than one person. (The T-bone, if memory serves, comes from along the same stretch of cow as the porterhouse, but from the opposite end - porterhouse is considered the better of the two cuts).

If ordering for one, go with the rib-eye, preferably on the bone.

No, as said, a Porterhouse is a NY strip and a piece of tenderloin. A T-bone is basically the same thing, but from further “down” the cow, so has less tenderloin on it.

But yeah, from what I’ve seen and heard, the porterhouse there is big enough for at least two, if not three or four. But if you’re there with two or three other people, then there you go. I’d love to go there myself one day…

I’m sure you already know this but remember to bring lots of cash. No credit cards accepted. There is a Peter Luger card you can apply for on their website.

Also, everything is a la carte, including the baked potato, which was $4.50 when I was last there years ago. The tomato and onion is very good with the Peter Luger sauce on it.
