Best Vegas hotel cafeteria?

This might be an odd one. My wife and I are contemplating making our annual trek to Vegas for Christmas. If we do so, the week we’re planning is one of the cheapest for room rates in Vegas, so we have a pretty wide range of places we can afford to stay. As such, we’ve started thinking about looking at other factors.

One of the factors we discovered might be important to us is one of the staples of pretty much every Vegas hotel: the 24-hour cafe. Sure, some of the hotels have tremendous buffets, or amazing steak houses, or fine ethnic cuisines, and we will definitely hit those from time to time. But what we we’re thinking we might care about the most would be the quality of the hotel’s always-open food stop. The hotels I have stayed at most often in recent years (Gold Coast, The Rio, Sam’s Town) have pretty bland options – I vow that I will NOT be eating at TGI Friday’s on this trip!

We’re not looking for fancy, obviously. Just high quality in basic food. So when I want really good pancakes at 3am, or truly tasty chicken sandwich, or maybe some delicious biscuits and gravy, what hotels have the best option?

There is nothing better than Wynncore. Society Cafe and Zoozacrackers Deli are the best in town. Otherwise head to Peppermill.

Hmm…most people awake and hungry at 3:00AM in Las Vegas are not exactly looking for fine dining/gourmet food. It is more of drunk and starving, “Gimme a hot dog with lots 'a sauerkraut, and a slice of pizza - oh, and yeah, throw in some onion rings…got any salsa?”
There are lots and lots of places like that in the wee hours.

Anyone from LA can tell you about the great Canter’s Deli on Fairfax - well, they have a Canter’s Deli in the Treasure Island. You can’t go wrong there! However, I don’t believe they are open 24 hours/day in Vegas, just LA.

Other than that, I am kind of fresh out of ideas…each hotel will have different options, and I am sure the hours vary by day of the week and season. But yeah, the late night-owl eateries are sort of limited and not exactly four star. You would think in this 24 hour town it would be chock full of options, even at that late hour, but most folks are sleeping, or glued to a slot, or sucking down cocktails somewhere. Food is really not a big priority at 3:00 AM.

Canter’s TI closes at minight.

That means the 3am craving will have to be satisfied by IHOP or Dennys.

Or Blueberry Hill, of course, if I’ve got to leave my hotel anyway.

Lucky’s at the Stratosphere has always been good for me. Even when I ask for something off the wall like a plate of pickle spears.

The Peppermill is good too, but be aware that the fruit plate is an obscene amount of food. Think half a pineapple, a bunch of grapes, several kiwi fruit, and, and, and.

I’ve only ever had one mediocre meal in Vegas, at the America cafe in New York, New York.
