I got accosted! Some dipshit woman literally attacked me during the speech, grabbing my arm so she could grab my sign. As I mentioned to Cathy, my date, later, the entire experience was an unintended experiment to see who spent their social media time on Twitter (these people got it and took pictures) vs those who spent their time on Facebook, or not at all, (they had no idea what the sign was referencing).
Beto gave his speech, got sweaty, and then posed for pics. We didn’t want to wait 45 minutes, we were 10 feet from him as he spoke, that was enough:
He had a live band which did me no favors as live music is always played at volumes which I find overwhelming. There is a reason why I’ve been to more showings of Don Giovanni in specific than live rock concerts in general, and this did nothing but reinforce it. It’s completely me, I get it, but I literally do not understand why people like music at 90, 100+ decibals. You may as well take a sledgehammer to my brain, and the idea of holding a conversation at that volume is beyond my comprehension… or abilities.
It’s not completely you. I went to an Elton John concert last night with my wife and my ears are still ringing. I should have brought earplugs, dammit. 
You could count this benighted foreigner as one who’d appreciate an explanation…
It isn’t just you. Many years ago I went to an ice show and had to stick my fingers in my ears for the whole show. I wonder whether the overkill arises in part because so many people damage their hearing by playing their music way too loud all the time.
