And how Mike was completely justified in doing so. Those cops weren’t there to have a little chat to “clear a few things up,” they were there in an effort to pin a double homicide of two cops on him.
Just like Mike knew right away who murdered his son, the Philly cops must strongly suspect it was Mike. If everyone in the station is dirty, and there were rumblings that his son was considering ending the party, it would not be hard to put it all together. Plus he just happened to leave town literally a few hours after the murder.
And 2 headshots with a .38 revolver on 2 trained officers? That’s some Wyatt Earp action right there.
With all that said, it’s “not what you know, but what you can prove…”
If we meet up with Gus, it stands to reason we’ll see Hector as well, seeing that Hector would’ve been the kingpin States-side at that time (assuming this was before his stroke).
I mean, hell, we’ve already met Tuco, so why not?
I’d love to see some Hector action, pre-wheelchair.
In BB she was 10 (at least that’s what I see googling around the web). I can’t find any pictures from the BCS episode but looking at the video, I think she could be 4 or 5.
I can see what you mean. (I think highly of both episodes, but I wouldn’t like to see the show turn into “action man gets the drop on the bad guys” as a general rule.)
I agree with those who’ve mentioned Banks’ performance as being superb; surely it’s likely to be in the running for an Emmy nomination. (I never see Jonathan Banks without mentally hearing the scenery-chewing John Lithgow call him “Monkey-Boy!!” in The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai. Who, back in '84, could have predicted the career that lay ahead for Banks?!?)
In “Full Measure” the thirteenth episode of the third season of Breaking Bad, about 18 minutes in, Mike drops Kaylee off at her house. They sit in the car and have a conversation about rhinoceros horns. Then they get out of the car, he gives her a bunch of balloons, and her mother comes out to meet her. Mike even says “there’s your momma”. Unfortunately I can’t find the clip online, but if you have access to episodes on Netflix or something you can check it out.
It’s brief, and I’m not sure if it’s the same actress, but we did see her mother on BB.
This was my impression as well, he shows up in ABQ suddenly sober and evidently ok with that. I don’t think he was ever an alcoholic irl, it was a long play at getting them to drop their guards. it is so perfectly in character for the Mike that we know from BB and a very good intro for the BCS peeps as well.
Was just thinking this. Often, things are best left for us to imagine; see the Fall of Anakin Skywalker for a top class example. But this was riveting–even though, as the AV Club reviewer points out, a lot of this is cop-show cliche. An actor and a director can make all the difference in the world.
Listening to the Insider Podcast now, and they’ve said it’s not the same actress. (I think the new actress was a trainer in the tragically short-lived Luck.)
I would have thought the same, that I’d recognize Octavia anywhere, but checking her IMDb page to verify she was never in Breaking Bad (she wasn’t), I see she was in The Walking Dead and I never had a clue.
I think a big part of that is the “acting through accent.” American actors are guilty of it when playing Brits and Brits can fall into that as well (I don’t care what anyone says-- Hugh Laurie was terrible on House, MD)
She sounded like she was not 100% comfortable with her accent.
This was bugging me as well. Without running all over the internet looking it up, she was (you’re saying) 10, but I thought that was at the end of Breaking Bad and this is supposed to be 7 years before BB started.
I think you’re right, and I think we’re going to see more of the vet who took care of Mike- the one who said he ‘knows people’ and could help Mike get some work.
