Better Call Saul season 6

But the bottle stopper was shown to be in the street in front of Saul’s mansion while it was being raided, right? We’re in the Gene timeline, which is way beyond that. I’m not sure how that stopper could play any role in how events unfold now. Unless I’m missing something.

I guess it could be another bottle that enters the story. Kim & Jimmy getting back together and and celebrating doesn’t fit with where this is going, but maybe one of them comes across a bottle in some context, it triggers memories, and that goes somewhere.

Or the writer was messing with us.

Or something in the Saul timeline

And the thing being sharp may come into play but you wouldn’t need to remember that it was sharp. Maybe it’s used to cut something open.

The annoying, arrogant businessman that Jimmy and Kim conned into buying them all those expensive drinks (and whose car Walt set on fire) bumps into Gene just as it seems he’s got away with it all, and stabs him with the stopper in an act of revenge? That’s not jumping the shark at all is it…!!

Well, the stopper might be important because it could be Saul’s Rosebud — a reminder of the innocent (relatively speaking) good times now long past. The opening of season 6 where his possessions are all being carted away and the final shot lingers on the stopper is very evocative of the final scene of Citizen Kane. So it’s something symbolic rather than a plot device maybe.

Still, it’s apparently a really sharp stopper.

I feel like Gandalf tracking down the seven dwarven rings…

We have seen four bottles of Zafiro Añejo in BB/BCS. The first was used by Gus to poison Don Eladio. The second was at the hotel bar with the stockbroker with “Viktor” and “Giselle” - who was given the stopper and kept it. The third was bought by Jimmy then (months?) later finished after Chuck’s suicide. The fourth was shown and left by Jimmy at the liquor store.

So there are two bottle stoppers (as a prop there’s maybe only one though there are websites showing how to make them or Etsy to buy them) extant: Kim/Giselles souvenir and whatever became of the one Kim & Jimmy drank. Which one Kim did pull out of a drawer as she left S&S? Let’s presume that was the Giselle one. Which one fell out of the bureau in the S6 opener?

Is it/they Rosebud and/or the Glass Ball from Citizen Kane? Does someone drop one or the other as their dying words are “Zafiro Añejo”? How is being sharp a factor?

We’ll know in two days.

How sharp is sharp in this case? Could a lawyer buy a product with such a dangerous stopper and not think of a product liability lawsuit? Sure, cartel guys can handle the risk, but it’s not an appropriate product for the residents at Sandpiper.

I don’t think it’s all that sharp. I don’t think anyone is going to accidentally injure themselves in any serious way. The pictures I see suggest that if it’s in a grocery bag and you blindly reach into it, it might scratch your hand or get under a fingernail if you’re particularly unlucky. Sure, you might be able to hurt someone with it, but every tool is a weapon if you hold it right. *

*I know that’s an Ani DiFranco quote/line, but the only place I’ve ever seen/heard it was on a t-shirt I saw someone wearing once in high school. It just stuck with me.

It bugs me that it’s called Zafiro (sapphire) Añejo yet the liquor itself is golden. It should be as blue as Walter’s meth.

The bottle is blue. Most people know what tequila looks like; Walt isn’t distilling it in his basement. There’s also a very popular liquor on the market IRL called sapphire and it’s clear. The liquid being blue would be bizarre.

Ever had Tarantula Azul?

Añejo is a specific type of tequila that has been aged for more than a year to develop a richer, more complex taste. They are always golden in color .

Tequila is made from the blue agave, hence no doubt the name.

It is sharp because the clerk in the store specifically said that it’s sharp and Jimmy poked his hand with it pulled away in pain (not huge pain but like from a needle prick.)

I found this cast photo featuring Carol Burnett interesting, because Rhea Seehorn appears to be Kim in Florida, but Bob Odenkirk, instead of being Omaha-Gene, is more like Albuquerque-Saul:
