What people are making up their minds about is what opinion they should have of this man. Nobody is deciding to burn him at the stake, or drown him, or hang him, or put him in jail for 20 years. They’re deciding whether to think he’s a scumbag.
Debating the process for deciding whether a guy’s a scumbag? Really?
He may or may not be guilty, but he sure did act like an entitled douche. With the stakes this high, we now all know that we can’t trust this guy to be honest about partying in High School. Why put someone like that on the Supreme Court?
Also, no one has asked where is the evidence that all this is a political hit job by the D’s. Gorsuch didn’t get this, and his seating was potentially more controversial since Garland never even got a hearing. So, Dem hit job? Not enough evidence to convict on that point, sir, and why can’t you stick to the subject?
Since we’re in the Pit I can say that you often appear to be, by far, the most reasonable of all the right-wing idiots on the Board. I hope you take that as a compliment!
I hijacked a GD thread to ask this question, and was rightfully reprimanded for it. So let me try again here, in a more appropriate venue.
The performance of Kavanaugh when he tried to rebut Ford’s allegations was unbelievable. I was reminded of Alex Jones, based on his malice, conspiracy theories and ranting. Regardless of your politics, regardless of whether you’ve studied Kavanaugh’s resume or his judicial record, Kavanaugh’s behavior was not the behavior of any person qualified to be a judge.
Octopus understands this. Have any of our other right-wingers acknowledged this?
My question isn’t about that. Trump got elected because he’s a sexist racist lying pig and that’s what you right-wingers like about him. Fine.
But my question is: Do you approve that the White House changed its official transcript of the conference to replace “thinking” with “thanking”? Do you approve of White House and other top government officials lying?
Quartz? I think you qualify as a right-winger — do you have any opinions?
The reason some folks think it was a ‘hit job’ is because the allegations were sat on until the last minute and then brought out (against the wishes of Dr. Ford). So, yeah…that’s not a completely irrational supposition, IMHO. It pretty clearly was a political move by the Dems, at least from the Pubs perspective. Your point about Garland is true, as pretty clearly the Pubs deliberately stalled until after the election.
Just watched a video from one of the channels I subscribe to (America Uncovered…same guy who does China Uncensored) that I thought was interesting. Check it out if you like (Chris isn’t a Republican in any way, shape or form): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDECYTcV0HQ&feature=em-uploademail
Nobody in the history of ever has ever said “You’re not thanking” without following “thanking” with a direct object. That is how simple this administration sees its supporters.
The GOP always says anything like this is a Dem hit job because that is the way they do it, so they think that is how everybody does it. It’s called projection. They are incapable of understanding that on the D side there are actually people who want to get at the truth in investigations (I KNOW! Can you imagine?) To them, investigations are just opportunities for political shenanigans, that is their only purpose (Bengahzi x100).
I would have thought you had learned by just reading some of the responses to your posts that you’re still not comprehending the concerns that people have about Kavanaugh.
What is fair to say, at minimum, is that he has been lacking candor in responding to questions about his previous transgressions. We have multiple witnesses who are apparently on record making statements to that effect, whether we’re talking about his drinking or his drunken behavior. The fact that he acted like a frat boy and apparently made both men and women in his presence uncomfortable might be a forgivable sin, but when applying for the a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the land, lacking candor harms the perceived credibility of the institution.
Oh, they understand it; they understand it very well. They know that the more they can distort everyone’s perceptions of what the truth is, the less that being truthful - about anything - matters. The Republicans on Capitol Hill aren’t confused at all. They want more people like Quartz to get confused about the issues.
Indeed, the Quartzes of the world play an important role: the GOP releases the talking points on Fox and the little brains scurry over to the web and repeat them verbatim and then argue with the great convict that only a true idiot can possess.
