"Better Off Ted" to die?

Say it ain’t so!!

aw no :frowning:

I’m not too shocked. I’m always a bit surprised to see Better Off Ted come back. Nobody seems to have heard of it.

I really love it, though, so I hope it stays around for a while longer. I suppose I can really look forward to January, though.

Scrubs can die. It was great for a while, but it’s time for a DNR on that one.

Damn!

I anticipated it for Scrubs - it should never have been renewed after effectively ending the series.

But Better Off Ted is a delight I absolutely adore.

Why are my favourite shows always targeted for cancellation, while shows I think are lame run for years?

I wonder if another network would pick it up.

I think it should be aired with Modern Family.

There are so few sitcoms on now, much less good ones. At least we get to see the rest of the episodes made.

:frowning: It was too much to hope for that there would be a continued trend towards good comedies.

Another :frowning:

There are a ton of sitcoms on now, especially compared to the last few years. I watch most of them:

On Mondays CBS runs 4 out of a group of usually 5, sometimes 6.

On Tuesdays ABC is burning off 2.

On Wednesdays CBS runs 2 and ABC runs 3 since the 4th got cancelled after a couple weeks.

On Thursdays NBC runs 4.

Fridays is the throwback sitcom wasteland, with the recently cancelled Til Death and Brothers.

Some would argue that the Fox cartoons on Sunday nights are sitcoms. I do not; they’re cartoons.

That’s 17 sitcoms every week, and IMO only two are of the classic “sitcoms suck” variety ala According to Jim, Yes Dear, etc…

As soon as I saw the first ratings (3.2!) I knew the show was dooomed. It never got promoted, never built and buzz, and has a stupid off-putting title. The poor brilliant thing never had a chance.

I’m stuck in a 10±year old time warp where every network seemed to show 2-4 every night… and 20+ episodes too.

Hell yeah it should.

I think the two shows compliment each other very well. Tentpole it in-between it and Cougar Town.

Did you guys notice Scrubs has the words “Med School” written on the bottom of the X-ray that JD puts on at the end of the opening credit song?

I think Bill Lawrence is getting his way with giving the show a subtitle. He wanted it to be called Scrubs: Med to indicate it is kind of a spin-off.

Just a bump 'cause it’s on right now.

ETA: Well on the East coast, anyway…

I don’t get why people like the show. Therefore I think nobody should like it and it should be destroyed.

They aired a new episode during Christmas week as well if memory serves…a two week time span when practically no other network show is running new episodes. ABC is obviously trying to burn through the episodes they’ve paid for as quickly as possible. Oh well. Been enjoying the ever more Portia make out scenes regardless.

Or as the article linked to in the OP stated in the first paragraph:

Please read the links, everybody. Make it a New Year’s Resolution. The one you’ll keep.

I don’t watch a lot of network TV, but the way ABC advertises their sitcoms makes them all seem very formulaic at this point.

It is my fervent wish that somebody at ABC recognizes how good the writing on this show is and fights for its survival.

To be honest, I’ve found the episodes this season only so-so. Of course I doubt that they can top the brilliance of the Racial Sensitivity episode from the first season.

I strongly disagree. Better Off Ted is founded in cynicism, in the mold of Arrested Development and Scrubs. Modern Family, by contrast, is all heart without a drop of cynicism. I don’t think you could find two more disparate sitcoms that would go together worse than those two.

Sadly, this is true.
