I googled Bettie Page a couple/few months ago after I saw someone with the hair style. I hadn’t know she was still alive.
Odetta, 4SJ, and soon Bettie Page. Each made significant contributions to our culture in their time. Odetta, during the Folk Music and Civil Rights eras; Ackerman, for SF fandom; and Page, as a sex symbol and counterpoint to the ‘blonde bombshells’ of her era.
No, coming in here and saying “Wow, you guys do realize that this is a PERSON we are talking about, yeah? Forget it; the “cool kids” don’t give a shit about anything but lame jokes” is self-righteous.

It seems that she will not be with us much longer, but may she have a peaceful death. I, too, thought she had passed on long ago.

This is a sad coincidence. If you had asked me this morning, I would have guessed that both Bettie Page and Sunny Von Bulow had died years ago. Tonight I learned that Bettie Page is in a coma, and Sunny Von Bulow’s finally been released from hers.
My girlfriend dressed up like Bettie Page for Halloween this year- and if that’s all there was to Ms. Page, she’d still deserve perpetual blessings.
There’s snow on the campuses at Hume-Fogg and Peabody tonight – not terribly common in Nashville. So all the streets are quiet. I wonder what Bettie was like when she was a school girl in these places.

This is truly a loss. Go well, Ms. Page. 
CNN has nothing about Bettie Page’s death at the moment, as far as I can see. Why would that be, is she considered too porny in the US for mainstream media?
TIME, Associated Press, Bloomberg, and E! Online all have stories about her passing. Ms. Page is a cultural icon; I really doubt she’s considered “too porny.”
The news is on CNN now, so maybe I was just looking at the website too early.
