No details yet, other than she had a heart attack. I hope she pulls through…
Ddamnitt… first the news about Forry, now this. It’s a suxxorz day for fandom.
I hope she pulls through and has many more happy years.
Bettie Page was a babe back in the day, but the first thing I thought of when I heard this news was, I know someone who is going in my Celebrity Death Pool 2009. Does this make me a bad person?
She’ll live forever; she’s an icon. So distinctive, so daring, so dangerous.
Bettie Page is still alive?
This. The thread title shocked me because I had thought she was beyond the point of being capable of being in a coma.
I looked her up on Dead or Alive and found out she’s 85.
God bless you, Betty Page, and here’s hoping He gives you some added happy & healthy years. You’ve had a complex & fascinating life & we’d all be poorer without you.
Man, Uncle Forry & one of my best friend’s cat dead & Betty Page not doing well at all. This is a Hellaweek.
Have her for '08, so you know the mental turmoil I’m in.
I suggest we all rub one out in her honor.
Wow, you guys do realize that this is a PERSON we are talking about, yeah?
Forget it; the “cool kids” don’t give a shit about anything but lame jokes.
Self-righteous, much?
I hear a waaaambulance in the distance.
Sorry to hear about Ms. Page but y’know, she’s 85 and no one lives forever.
Oh, take it easy. You have been plenty irreverent on this board in the past.
Not mocking the ill is self-righteous? Damn, I musta been doing it wrong all these years. Please forgive me if I think it’s in bad taste to say shit like that. I mean, she seems like a cool lady. Hell there is even a thread in the Pit right now, where folks are discussing random acts of assholishness. But I guess this doesn’t apply, since none of you are the target.
Oh please, she did soft-core porn 50 years ago. I’m sure she’s a very nice woman, but this isn’t exactly the kind of tragedy that casts a hush over the nation.
It’s called gallows humor. Look it up.
Turns out people deal with sad things in lots of different ways.
And did it well.
Speak for yourself!
She went to high school at Hume-Fogg in Nashville and then on to Peabody College which had a very staid reputation. It’s funny to think of her there. Even H. Ross Perot could not get his daughter in. I went to Peabody first and then taught at Hume-Fogg for one year.
And I look just like Bettie Page at her peak. (Excuse me, my pants have caught on fire…)
Fool 'em all, Bettie, and keep on going!
