Haha…I stopped reading the letter from the apologist at the point where the apologist said that Moses wrote the Pentateuch (which he misspelled, as well).
Quoth “bro”
(bolding mine)
You might mention that in “bro’s” six readings of the Bible he apparently skipped over Matthew 5:22*…"But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council:** but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.***

I have to say, Oakminster, your comments about the girl in the video are in very poor taste. She’s 14. She may have come to her convictions pretty recently and she may be testing out how she feels about these things. Sometimes you go too far when you’re exploring a new religious conviction (or any attitude) at that age. It happens and usually people tone it down as they grow up and learn to live and let live.
Oh. I thought you were directing that at Dio! This makes much more sense. ![]()
I don’t know, but according to the bible, food was provided anyway.
“Bro” needs to learn that verbal abuse and denigration are not the best ways to convince people of the love of Christ.
My favourite part:
Umm… if I were you, I’d ask why? Why exactly MUST we trust YOU on this? (Incidentally, I wouldn’t trust him to cash a one-dollar cheque, the whole thing is hideously manipulative with its “do-what-I-say-or-you’re-going-to-hell” shtick. I feel sorry for his sister.)
Also, your friend says of her brother that he is:
Oh really? Why does HE get an E-for-expert rating while the youtube girl doesn’t?
So, the first five times weren’t enough?
I dont have a ton to add here but this
“At the risk of sounding like a religious fanatic, please remember I have read the ENTIRE bible 6 times now from cover to cover. I KNOW WHAT IT SAYS AND WHAT IT DOESN’T SAY. I know for a fact THE BIBLE IS THE WORD OF THE ONE, TRUE GOD.”
made me lol. how old is this guy?
Cover-to-cover is really not the best way to read the Bible, really, and reading any particular part of the Bible only six times is pretty unimpressive if you claim to be an expert.
I doubt he’s even read it once.
He knows what the Bible says, but I’m not convinced he knows what it means.
I’m not really convinced he knows what it says or what it means…certainly he’s not biblical scholar. In my experience, people like this THINK they know what the bible says and what it means because they have heard parts of it preached at them in sermons and perhaps have read a few passages, but when you start to really question them it turns out that they haven’t ever actually read the thing cover to cover (in a lot of cases with Christians, they have read more of the NT than the OT, and they conflate a lot of stuff that actually isn’t in either but that they have heard or someone has told them about), let alone seriously studied what it says, or what it means or it’s history.
Personally, I wouldn’t bother even responding to someone who’s muzzle is that covered in foam about the comments of a 14 year old kid.

Sums up my position. But then, I wouldn’t have been trolling my friends with that video either.
As an aside: Is it appropriate to post a full quote like that from someone who doesn’t know you are doing it?
Well, I guess that’s game, set and match, then.
I’m with Larry Borgia. I believe it was Christ Himself who said something like “Whoever calls his brother a fool is in danger of Hellfire.”
The respondent or Jesus?
The niceties of the rules aside (it sounds like you’re commenting on MuelSkinner’s off-board actions), this is rude. Please dial it back while you’re posting in Great Debates.
I’m pretty sure I’ve read the Lord of the Rings more than six times but I wouldn’t call myself a Tolkien expert. I never even bothered to learn Quenya.
I think shiftless is talking about that 14 year old girl there, not MuelSkinner, but that’s just my impression, FWIW.

I’ve always been stumped that they didn’t stumble upon the Gulfs of Suez, Aden or the Med. Sea in all that time, by accident if not intent. Not much more than 100 miles from the center of the Sinai in most any direction you choose. Couldn’t have been looking too hard. Why do I think the 40 years must be allegorical?
