Bid on my stuff, dammit!

(Not you all specifically - just the world at large.)

OK, so I’m jumping the gun a little. I mean, I just listed all of my stuff on eBay earlier today. But I want it to SELL SELL SELL!

Yes, it can be frustrating, but a lot of people only bid towards the end of eBay auctions.

I went through this about two weeks ago. The odd thing was that while four of the five items I put up went for substantially less than what I was hoping for, that fifth item sparked a major bidding war that more than made up for the others.

If your name here is the same as your ebay account, then you have far too litle feedback to make bidders confident. Buy 20 or so cheapish items from ebay to get a feedback in at least the lower 20s.
That said your starting prices are quite low, so you should get a few bites.

That said used baby clothes is a bit of a dodgy thing to buy from someone you don’t know. How does the buyer know how clean they are?

Of course, if you aren’t Avarie537 on EBAY, then much of the above doesn’t apply to you.

If her name here is the same as her ebay account, then she has 24 positive feedbacks and a rating of 100%. That’s more than enough for me, and it’s just too bad that I don’t need any baby clothes right now.

Just give it a little time, you’ll see plenty of action as the auctions draw to a close.

True auction snipers don’t show themselves until the last 30 seconds.

My habit is to click ‘submit’ at seven seconds.

Umm, actually selling my son’s old baby and toddler things was one of the most profitable things I’ve sold on eBay. Most of the stuff I listed when for more than I expected.

When I was moving from Miami back to Spain, I put up a sign saying “leaving sale: just make me an offer”. The 'puter went a bit lower than I wanted, but for some things it was just silly. I got twice as much for a month-old toaster as I’d paid for it! Guess that neighbor couldn’t be bothered with going to the nearest supermarket in person or something.

Last weekend in WoW ('net game), I put up 8 bundles of raw cloth for sale. I get a “your auction of a bundle of cloth is over”, hit my enemy a couple times, get “your auction of a bundle of cloth is over”, hit a couple more times… then I started getting “your bundle of cloth just sold” in rapid succesion… six times, and all six bundles sold at buy-me price. I’m still trying to figure it out.

In an older 'net game, I once sold… what would have been the equivalent of a toaster… for a price equivalent to a brand-new SUV. Three guys got into a pissing contest and just drove the price up, up, up and into the stratosphere.

To me, one of the funniest things about selling anything in any kind of auction is the absurd results you occasionally get.

Best wishes, Avarie - it’s one of those things that can be fun or nerve-wracking.

This is a bit of a slow time for Ebay with the end of summer vacations and school-college revving up.

Most bids don’t happen for me until the last hour of the auction.

I’ve learned not to maniacally watch my auctions until at least two days pass.

Sweet, I’m bidding on something for Hal.
