Yeah, maybe Harris will jump out in front- or maybe not- after the GOP hate machine and Kremlin propaganda people get on her. But if we are talking RIGHT NOW- Biden is doing Okay. Not good, not bad, but okay. No one else is.
So we drop the 'doing okay candidate" for a candidate that isnt doing as well, but COULD do better. But Biden could also do better.

They aren’t neck and neck. Biden is definitely behind. Nate Silver had Biden at ~26% chance of winning and suspects that will probably drop more as more post-debate polls come out.
Will Harris start that far behind? Maybe. But Harris might be capable of making a comeback. It isn’t clear that this version of Biden has that capability.
The current polls say otherwise.

Biden’s odds of winning pretty much disappeared with that weak debate performance. Voters don’t forget. Trump, though he’s an idiot, at least appeared confident. Confidence is what sells, not policy. The ONLY chance of the Dems winning at this point, up or down ticket, is to replace Biden with Harris. Even then, it will be a tough race.
Are you just looking at the polls you like? The weighted average of polls has Biden down 2 or 3 points. It is really hard to make good decisions if you are just going to ignore reality.
Wait: are you arguing that Biden’s old age is NOT starkly visible? Or that he is not perceptibly older than he was in 2020?
Harris is the only one with access to the $240 million war chest already raised because her name is also on the ticket. So there’s that.

In hockey, if one team is just one goal behind and game time is almost up, it’s routine for the trailing team to take their goalie out of the net and put on an extra skater for an all-out attack. It’s a big risk because the net is empty, but they do it because it’s their only chance, and “only chance” is a lot better than the near certainty of losing.
Nate Silver has a pretty good track record. A 74% probability of a national disaster of unprecedented proportions isn’t the kind of chance that should be casually shrugged off.

Haha! No more certain than anyone else’s opinion is. But as a Canadian watching my American neighbors to the South possibly mess up and re-elect Trump, I think this decision needs to be made with the utmost scrutiny, and not be about hurting someone’s feelings. Trump has a big base, and if he manages to be confident enough to persuade most of the undecideds, it’s game over for the Democrats. Time to get behind Harris. NOW.
Sorry but I take offense at this statement. We pretty much ALL do drugs. It’s hypocritical to think we don’t. Today I took Advil and Tylenol for pain relief. Maybe days I get caffeine from coffee or Coke. We wouldn’t think of admonishing a diabetic for taking Insulin, or other chemicals used to test countless diseases. There’s an underlying assumption in the “don’t do drugs” mantra that all drugs are bad. This isn’t the truth. SOME drugs are dangerous, especially if they’re not prescribed for you, but many drugs are actually quite beneficial.

If my compensation depended on having correct predictions, I’d be more like 538 and Nate Silver, and emphasize uncertainty. But if we are talking about amateur prognosticators on for-fun message boards like this, there is no harm in saying what you think. And I think if Biden resigns, the chances for the Democratic ticket winning in November go way up.
Now, if he drops out of the race for a current medical issue, while remaining President, that is going to put Harris is a tough position where she has to defend the indefensible. I still think she can eek out a win under those circumstances, but it is more a wild guess.

And clearly you do not understand how the “ say no to drugs” message can be misleading, especially to kids. Just because you know which drugs you are referring to doesn’t mean everyone else does. Certainly crack, meth, heroin, ice, crystal, are not good, as well as a ton of other chemicals. Cocaine was once the active ingredient in Coca-cola too. Sometimes what we think we know ain’t always the truth.
