I did no such thing. I asked a simple question. Others have responded without the attitude. Take notes.
Did you not say this?
Was that someone else?
Why is condescension now necessary? For someone accusing someone else of attitude, a glance in a mirror may be a good idea.
Ah, yes, quite the impassioned attack there…
You may want to re-read my posts. There is nothing there with attitude or picking a fight. I’m not sure why you have brought this hostility to the thread. Can you indicate what post of mine you have a problem with? I simply asked why I should take you, an internet stranger, at face value on your personal judgement of her qualifications.
If that seems like picking a fight, I don’t know what to tell you.
Steve Vladeck’s analysis seems to contradict this line from @iiandyiiii’s link.
Jackson would be the most experienced trial court judge to join the Supreme Court in almost a century.
Specifically.
Judge Jackson has 8.9 years of prior judicial experience. That’s more than four current Justices (Thomas, Roberts, Kagan, & Barrett) had combined.
It’s also more than 4 of the last 10 Justices had at their confirmations; 9 of the last 17; and 43 of the 58 appointed since 1900:
(Bolding mine.) What kinds of attacks would you rate “very valid” in relation to Jackson serving on the SCOTUS? Your concerns about her qualifications seem to have adequately addressed. Are you saying her race and gender by themselves would be the basis for legitimate attack?
That describes everyone in this thread and 99% of the internet. We might as well just not have a discussion then. Why the hell are you in the thread if you hold all the participants with such disdain?
I came in looking to learn something, and I get this dismissive bullshit form you.
What disdain? Asking if there is a reason that I should trust your opinion over the expert opinions I’ve already heard is disdain?
Why are you so angry about being asked about this? Other posters are offering cites or justifications. That is the norm here I thought. Your replies are way out of line regarding anything I’ve said in this thread. Disdain, dismissive, bullshit. None of that is necessary.
She was picked explicitly for her race and gender. Biden openly admitted as much, they’ll be able to accurately say her choice was neither colorblind nor entirely on her legal chops.
I’d also say that the fact that she was appointed as an Appellate Judge just 8 months ago could make her immediate promotion to the top spot a potential soft spot.
She clerked for Breyer which you might be able to spin as a conflict (though that’s probably spurious).
I didn’t offer an opinion, just providing context to my question. And when you tell someone they aren’t worth listening to and their opinions don’t matter, yea…that makes you a bit of a jerk.
Every white male on the court was picked for their race and gender – it just wasn’t explicit. That was just what was considered acceptable – only white males – for the vast majority of our history.
That was very, very wrong. In order to change that, we have to make direct decisions to change that. That’s what Biden did. He just didn’t lie about it. KBJ is as qualified as anyone ever, and her race and gender are part of these qualifications.
I didn’t say any of that. You said her qualifications were light. I said that was the opposite of everything I’ve heard from the experts I’ve seen speak on her, and asked why I should accept your statement. Then you flew off the handle at the very idea of being challenged.
I once again suggest you re-read the exchange. Your reactions are completely uncalled for.
Modnote: Actually, you’re the one that is pushing what is acceptable in P&E. Please calm down and don’t attack the other posters.
And please both Omniscient & Airbeck, drop whatever you’re arguing over. No more back and forth on it. If you must continue, try the Pit.
I’ll reopen the thread in 10 minutes.
This topic was automatically opened after 9 minutes.
Modnote II: I’m not sure why your posts weren’t also flagged. This is not allowed in P&E or GD. You are clearly attacking the poster and not his posts.
Don’t do this again.
So, very valid attacks for anyone willing to ignore her qualifications and 246 years of American history.
The GOP in a nutshell.
Sometimes the right thing can become a political liability when your opponent has no scruples.
good heavens, it is cruz time.
Heavens have nothing to do with that smileball
