Biden v Trump: June 27 debate (Live debate comment here)

That depends which direction Black and Hispanic voters are shifting.

Sadly, fact checks will come later, undoubtedly. Equally sadly, they’re needed now.

Trump’s debate strategy is smart and working: ignore questions as necessary, pound the talking points to oblivion.

I actually have not seen Trump look this good in a long time. WTF?!

(It’s all nazi lies, of course, but fuuuuuccckkkk.)

Trump is better talking in these short, 2 minute chunks. He doesn’t have time to ramble about sharks.

He knows his audience is not a Maga crowd. I’m honestly impressed at his performance.

*I really don’t want to be.

Well, fuck. I’m still going to vote for Biden, since Trump is an evil dictator-wannabe, but I am really beginning to detest our political system that allows decrepit old men to continue holding important political positions. We need a president who has the youth, health, intelligence, and energy to govern the country properly.

I can’t watch any more. Trump is loudly and confidently spewing his usual bullshit, and he looks better than Biden’s hoarse voice whispering facts. No one is going to be watching sound-bites of fact-checking, this is all they’ll ever see.

The migrants are taking social security!

Back to migrants again. They’re getting Social Security, they’re getting Medicare, they’re in luxury hotels, they’re displacing veterans from needed services.

It’s getting old, Donnie.

Trump’s repeated talking points are crap, delivered with a confident smirk. But at least he has points he is trying to emphasize. Biden has not responded that well, and looks much more flustered, and so Biden is not going to benefit from this debate even if intellectually he was somewhat better.

I hope Biden greatly improves for the following debates, because he should have been better prepared for the bombast and endless stream of bullcrap and accusations. If you watched the debate with the sound off, choosing the winner would be even easier.

Biden should be bringing up, again and again:

  • January 6th
  • abortion access
  • lying about business dealings
  • what Trump’s appointees said and thought
  • Trump’s embrace of despots

And my Medicare!!

Trump is looking as good as he ever has. Which is bad, because he’s got obvious pathological liar vibes, but it refutes the notion that he’s been confused and had dementia lately. Which… I mean… seemed to be true when you watched his behavior over the last few months. I don’t know how he pulled it all together for this. Given how hard they were pushing the Biden drug angle he’s almost certainly loaded up on drugs, but he usually is, so I’m not sure that’s the explanation.

How Biden let that one slip by amazes me.

Me too and… me too. :sob:

Fortunately it’s Trump. If any Republican will fuck it up, he will.

What does firing people have to do with child care?

Migrants, crime, I’m the best ever and he’s the worst ever.

Question: “What would you do to make childcare more affordable?”

Trump: “Migrants-something!”

The faces Trump makes when it’s not his turn put me in mind of the South Park depiction of Mel Gibson.

Biden’s “The idea! The idea!” puts me in mind of an old lady calling for her smelling salts.

Trump lacks so much discipline.
