Really? Two black men free-style rapping on a basketball court?
Talk about stereotyping. The most forced rap-battle in the history of the world.
They only were missing the fried chicken and/or watermelon to be more steretypical and degrading.
What?
Welp, guess that means they should vote for the open white supremacist.
Well, it’s no Randy Rainbow, but I suppose it could resonate with A demographic.
What was different?
Two: check
Black men: check
Basketball: Check
(cringy) Free-style: Check
Stereotypes aplenty.
Exactly, that’s exactly what I was trying to say.
Remember when Trumpists drove a car into a crowd of people in Charlottesville, or when Trump told his white nationalist militia to standby and they started plotting how to kidnap Democrat governors, or how he’s blocked putting Harriett Tubman on the currency, or how he had two people who pointed guns at unarmed black protestors speak at the Republican convention? I’m still processing that shit and probably won’t be able to get to this for a good long while.
No, not really, I’ll check on that later.
On this thread, I’m discussing an ad full of stereotypes. If you want to make a thread about that stuff, more power to you.
You’re trying to say that two Black men who like basketball and rap shouldn’t make a public political statement?
These guys aren’t unknown:
Let me know when you do check on those things, if this commercial is upsetting those other things will really upset you.
I’m not upset. Thanks
Where are four-minute ads shown?
I would have expected better from pro battle rappers.
That ad assumed a lively intelligence on the part of viewers, familiarity with the issues, patience and attention span, and a willingness to think things through and be convinced. Yup, treating Black voters as if they might possess such qualities is definitely racist.
You’re welcome.
Moderating
Since part of your reasoning that the ad is stereotypical rests on the fact there are two of them (would 3 or 4 be more or less stereotypical?) and that two rap battlers are rapping, I’m finding myself doubting the sincerity of this thread.
I’m closing this thread.
