Big Bang Theory 3/16/09 - The Work Song Nanocluster

Penny tries her hand at a home business, and the guys get involved.

Enjoy!

Tonight’s episode is light years ahead of last weeks, and we only have act I under way.

Stunt laser chess.

Anyone else thinking Calvin and Hobbes Baseball with extra bases?

Oh Boy. Penny, Do not engage Sheldon! Do not engage!

OMG, the sea shanty was so strange. Sheldon and Penny actually working together happily?

o.O

I don’t know if I am more surprised by a possible work place relationship, or that chrisk of all people watches Big Bang.

slight Hijack : I don’t get “Aha Moments” by Mutual of Omaha. seems like common sense moments to me.

Can we say pasties?

Oh boy, Does Leonard have Sheldon dialed in.

Good episode, but not great. The ending with Sheldon as the Flash was horrible. It’s something that ppl who don’t “get” sci-fi/comics geeks would write. If they wanted to do that ending, they should’ve just had him wear his jersey with the “Flash” insignia.

I think the fact was that he had too much caffeine from the coffee, that he would have the energy to put on the full costume.

Awesomeness

Don’t forget to click on the “Buy Now” button.

Brilliant!

“Man, I really should take that off the website.”

The problem with the URL is simply this:

What used to be a cool hidden reference to something, has become something that by and large HAS to be done. This forces the creative to leave, and the legal cut and dry to come in.

One night, Conan O’brien went off script durring a joke, and said that one member of the band was visiting “www.hornymanatee.com

http://www.hornymanatee.com/

The problem was this;

Conan later stated, on the following program, that NBC Legal told him that he can not mention websites on the show, or NBC will have to buy the URL (if possible).

As such, http://www.hornymanatee.com/ points to Conan O’Brien now.

I think CBS follows a similar logic. If the originator doesn’t get the URL, someone else does, and gets free advertising.

the “Easter Egg” aspect of these sites goes zooming past “Easter Egg” status and straight into the mechanical grind it out.

The spirit leaves around that time.

I’m pretty sure the URL was never mentioned on the show and I’m also pretty sure Conan was joking when he said NBC had to buy a mentioned URL.

Also. Since when does Penny sell Sliders? Doesn’t she work at The Cheesecake Factory? [That looks nothing like any Cheesecake Factory I’ve ever been in.]

Oooh! I went to the cheesecake factory last weekend. On their appetizer list there are indeed sliders.

I still remember whatbadgerseat.com, and a friend told me about a similar joke on an episode of Buffy where some fan quickly reserved the domain and did a tribute site.

I believe it was an Episode of 24, or Possibly Heroes, that actually showed a real phone number. So many people called it, that it was decided to keep the phone number as an information line.

Did you guys see the episode of My Name is Earl when the dead guy posted on Television Without Pity?

That was classic. Apparently there was a whole set up on the website before the episode aired, and after “Joy” and “Darnell” posted on TWoP.

Another mostly good episode. I laughed more than once. Right from the begining. “Who is radiohead?”
