There’s a subject line I thought would grab attention.
Anyway. Please understand I’m not trying to offend anyone, but my mother and I are really curious about this:
Where do REALLY big bras come from?
I mean… it’s hard enough to find our sizes. It’s like the people who stock retail stores think all women are A, B, or rarely C. At least… that’s how it is in our area. What about women who are actually more top-heavy than we are? Where do they buy their underthings?
Specialty bra retailers, and many are custom made on the spot upon obtaining an appropriate measurement.

Ah… that makes sense. We figured it had to be special-ordered in some way… but just thinking you know isn’t very satisfying, and when trying a search I only came up with porn. -_- Thanks!
If you aren’t too much bigger than standard, maternity stores.
Nordstroms carries up to, I think DD. I know I buy my Ds easily there. When I was pregnant or breastfeeding, my breasts were somewhat larger, but I was still able to have no problems buying off the rack at a maternity store.
My Wife used to work in a Leggs, Hanes, Bali, Playtex Outlet store If there is one in your neck of the woods they do custom fit bras and can/will special order.
I don’t remeber the Company name a woman I worked with did custom fit bras via a mail order MLM type of outfit. She quit her job to do it full time.
I should add to my original post that the custom-built bras generally are made in larger sizes such as G through J, etc. Perhaps women posessing both cash and a 35B bustline (who like a good fit) use this service as well.
Kaufmann’s carries up to DDD on the rack. That was the only place I used to be able to buy bras without having to go into the special shop that the creepy old woman who enjoyed measuring me a little much for comfort ran.
Funny story… not funny “haha” funny “eeewww”. My 1st born was a week or 2 old when my breasts started overflowing from my pre-pregnancy bras. So… of course… I went to the store to see if I could find a larger size. A helpful young woman said she could fit me if I’d like. Imagine my surprise when I was told by the maternity store clerk that I was a size 44 J !! My baby’s never went hungy… hehe I ended up ordering a bra out of thier catalog for $85.00.
Now, however, I wear a 42 G bra… still larger than normal. The most comfy I’ve found are at Lane Bryant.
Before LB moved into town… I went to a specialty lingerie shoppe that is mainly for women who need prosthetic(s) (mastectomy patients), but they also had “large size” stuff too. They charged around $75.00 for a “custom fit” plain-jane type bra. If you wanted anything “fancy” it cost a ton extra.
i get my bras (30DD-30F, depending on hormones) from a standard bra shop actually.
i just don’t have much choice. It’s either a sports bra thingy or a bloody demi-cup satin push-up bra.
It’s not the cup size i have problems with, it’s just that most manufacturers don’t do a 30 in anything other than AA or A.
Most bras come in a bigger size range than the one on the shelves, so ask if you can order.
www.bravissimo.co.uk has nice bras for us top heavy ladies who live on the eastern side of the Atlantic.
