I was rooting for a Dan win, but his final arguement for the jury was terrible, and Ian made a nice one. I also don’t see Dan as a Russell Hanz type player, he reminded me more of Boston Rob in ASS. Dan was never an out an out asshole to people, he just played a little too hard for the crew he was with.
Even though I wanted Ian to win pretty much the whole season, in the end I thought Dan deserved it more. I thought it was BS when Ian was talking about Dan not winning as many competitions as he did. I wished Dan would have responded that he didn’t need to win competitions, because he had control of everyone in the house. Though, I suppose that would have offended the jury members.
I can’t believe Frank was chosen as America’s favorite. You’re dead to me, America.
Kind of cracked me up when Joe made some comment about morality in the game - something about the way he played the game isn’t how you should act in real life. Well, duh. I’d counter that with saying that it’s like asking a football player not to absolutely slam the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage if given the chance. Would he put his entire weight into creaming some dude on the street? No, because you don’t do that. But you do it in football because that’s one of the rules.
In games like Big Brother, you lie, promise on your wife, give family heirlooms or whatever to win. It’s the same thing to me. Just because you’re bitter about being played, that doesn’t mean that the other players did something out of line with the rules of the game. Do quarterbacks whine that the opposing team should have let them throw the ball instead of trying to tackle them?
At the end of the day, I think Dan should have won but I’m not pissed that Ian won. Dan did push a little too hard this season and built up enemies to dangerous point. Ian did some things that earn him some respect, but Dan completely stomped him in strategy. But compared to the rest of the house, yeah, Ian was pretty good.
I wouldn’t have been disappointed with a win either way, but I did actually think Ian’s answers and closing argument were kind of weak. They depended too much on “I created the Quack Pack” and “I took my fate into my own hands” (which seemed like the only answer he gave to EVERY question), and half the jury was Quack Pack and knew better.
I’m guessing that Dan’s grandfather’s solid gold cross was actually some gold-plated thing he bought for $5.00 a week before he went into the house.
And is there anything in this world funnier than Julie doing the quackquack hands before the commercial? No, there is not.
I would have liked to see Danielle win, but then, she’s really too dumb to have that much money. Dan, well, he was just too obvious in his lies to make me respect him. That leaves Ian, the only guy in the entire house that had “I’m could never be a threat” on his back.
I’m afraid that future BB seasons will be filled with people playing Ian’s game. Competing for things like Dog for a day, and eating slop.
Please producers, next season, 15 alpha males and one really hot female. That would be quite interesting.
I pretty much echo everyone’s sentiments here. Dan probably should have won, but he did get too bloody. Ian is a good winner though. Even though he wasn’t as good as Dan, he at least played the game, unlike people in other seasons and in other shows. Ian had a game and he won with it.
If Ian was stunned at getting three grand, I can only guess that his mind is blown by what a half million looks like.
I was very surprised as well that Jenn and Britney voted for Ian. Brit was talking Dan up in the jury house quite a bit. On the other hand, in the background during the key lock-ins and readings, she looked like she was going to jump out of her skin in excitement.
Frank’s a self-righteous tool. I have no idea why anyone would have voted for him.
Entertaining season overall.
Entertainment Weekly did a really good right up of last night’s episode. Kind of lengthy, but worth a read if you’ve got the time.
I especially liked this bit:
Poker is better than football for the analogy of how you play differently than you live your life. Are you not allowed to bluff in poker because that makes you a liar?
Oh no, Dan was definitely an out and out asshole to people, particularly Danielle in front of the whole house at his funeral.
I don’t like the final HOH competition being a 50/50 guess-what-someone-said challenge. The fake answers sound just as plausible as the real answers, so it doesn’t rely on the memory or intelligence or insight or any other skill of the competitors. It seems that the final and most important competition should rely on something more than just lucky guesses. If they’re going to do it this way, why not just have them flip a coin for the final HOH?
Dan did what he had to do to get to the end, but IN the end, he lost 6 -1 and only got a vote from the biggest dingbat in the house. You don’t get Big Brother points for every successful lie, you have to get votes.
