In just under an hour, the convicted fraudster is to regale the nation, if not the world, about his war in Iran. This thread is for your unfettered responses to whatever it is that exretes exudes from his mouth. I have to teach a class from 8:30 to 9:15, so I’m going to miss the beginning of it.
For non-Pitesque commentary, feel free to discuss it over in Politics & Election in this thread.
As it turns out, my students are fully invested in studying for another subject’s exam they will take this afternoon. I’m going to take one for the teeming millions.
Let’s all remember this thread is the Pit thread. I started the other thread along with this because a number of posters “just don’t do the Pit”. That being said, the Pit thread is the one I expect to be far more lively.
In response to a question about Cuba, he’s now saying, “It may be a friendly takeover; it may be an unfriendly takeover” and that was after he talked up Rubio as “probably the best secretary of state in history”.
In response to a question about the girls’ school bombing, he’s strongly implying Iran did it themselves.
A reporter just called him on his bullshit contradicting the Department of Defense, asking which assertion is true. The felon came up with this brilliant response: Both statements are true.
He’s expanded the “floating on the bottom of the sea” oratory to Iran’s sailors are “running off the ships”, the very ships which are at the bottom of the sea.
What the? He’s segued into voter ID and anti-Transgender.
Hold onto your hats, folks! Now he’s mathing! He’s spewing misinterpretation of statistics regarding voting demographics.
And he’s lying about “no other country has a system like mail-in voting” and, get this, said Jimmy Carter condemned mail-in voting as “inherently dishonest”.
He said he has a new person in mind to be Iran’s leader.
Jesus Christ! He said, as part of his answer, “I like the idea of internal and eternal”. Yeah, you like the idea of eternal leader, *just like your loverboy’s country.
Wow, I watched with Closed Captioning (audio off, his voice makes me ill) to evaluate his “efforts to reassure” and boy-howdy, the topic drift, the contradictions, and other rambling make some of his other speeches look coherent.
I always assumed this speech was to convince his followers (no one else is capable of believing him) that his very unpopular war was going fine and prices would be back down soon, but anyone actually watching this (of course, Fox will edit to “rational” sound bites later) may actually have more doubts after…
Though again, I bet 95+% of his followers are waiting for said Fox summary, so, little change to be expected.
Well, 5 minutes even with audio off was too much for me.
Wow! A reporter just called him on his declaring victory.
REAL REPORTER: “You said you want to help the people of Iran but it sounds like you want to withdraw once your military objectives have been met. Isn’t that a betrayal?”
The convict: “I’d like to help the Iranian people if they behave.”
