Wow, this is some fight. Apparently this guy was yelling the f-word during the match because he “had a lot of money on the game”, and a lady got tired of hearing it and confronted him on it. It just spiraled out of control from there, especially when the lady’s (almost elderly) father got involved.
It’s interesting though; the crowd seems to be siding with the lady, even though the guy wasn’t doing much to fight back. Is this a case of the lady starting shit she knew the guy wouldn’t be able to do anything about, or was the guy out of line for cursing at a major tennis match? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E19D_-h9MIo
Obviously we don’t see how it started, but from the video’s perspective it seems that the woman assaulted the guy and he didn’t hit her back. Then the old fella assaulted the guy and got what was coming to him.
Was the guy being an ass? Probably, but he sure as heck wasn’t the one who should be kicked out.
If they had a problem with his behavior they should have gone and gotten an usher/security. They should not be hitting him and the crowd yelling “he’s hitting people” are just lying. They hit him.
He shouldn’t have raised such a racket, else he wouldn’t have gotten the backhand. Did he even block? He’s lucky the old guy didn’t pull out his buggy whip, and the woman didn’t pull out a shank. On the other hand, he didn’t throw the first punch so he’s not entirely at fault. Old guy was so mad I thought he’d have a stroke. Certainly no love lost between them.
He shouldn’t have been cursing and getting loud. He shouldn’t have thrown attitude. Why are we questioning the motives of the people who object to loud cursing at a public event?
So If I decide you’re throwing attitude, can I hit you and demand you get kicked out of the arena? No, of course not because adults don’t settle problems with their hands, open or closed. They use their words and if that’s not effective they involve the authorities. Basically, I think the guys a dick but my sympathies lie with him.
Here’s the bullshit part of the whole situation. If you watch Zebra’s video, she hits him, he doesn’t hit back, then not only does the father kick the dude’s buddy in order to get at him, but the lady starts attacking Dude when he gets up and recovers from the father’s attack. Dude is simply defending himself, but scores of White Knights come out of the woodwork to attack Dude.
Screw that. A woman shouldn’t start shit she isn’t going to finish herself. If the woman is clearly the aggressor, a man shouldn’t be physically attacked for defending himself. A man has no obligation to hold back when a woman attacks him. He showed remarkable restraint in not laying her out when she hit him. If we’re equal, we’re equal. We’re not entitled to special protection from our own actions just because we’re female.
From what I gathered, she was objecting to his talking loudly during the point. This is verboten in tennis. He repeatedly yelled that he wasn’t fucking talking during the point. No matter if it was during the point or not, he was using very loud, foul language in an inappropriate setting. That alone would have earned him an escort out at most tennis matches. Add this to the fact that he was getting louder and more obnoxious while the game was being played, to the point where people several sections away were filming him on their cameras, and the two players had to suspend play while he was being dealt with, and he earned a second, permanent escort out. They weren’t watching a pro wrestling match, they were watching tennis and there is a certain decorum that is expected.
She, instead of confronting him, should have immediately alerted a security guard. She was very lucky that he didn’t retaliate. Her husband/father/friend was also lucky and should have resisted ever touching him. For that, they both earned an escort out.
FYI, guys like the obnoxious dude are one reason that I don’t attend football games with my kids anymore. Guys like him are a reason that football stadiums not have numbers that you can discreetly text security to deal with bozos like him.
So, the kid should have been thrown out for his obnoxious behavior. She should have been thrown out for slapping him. And the old dude should have been thrown out for poor fighting form. Oh, and the Security there should be ashamed of themselves for waiting so long to address the situation.
LOL, that’s effing great. Fuck that guy, he shouldn’t talk like that to a lady and an old man. He obviously was doing something obnoxious. I hate that defense, too. “I payed my money for my ticket, I can do or say whatever I want!”. Um, no, you can’t.
Someone on another website I frequent commented on the fact that the F word hurt their sad little ears so much they just had to butt in (instead of simply calling security and asking them to handle it, which would have avoided a scene.) but physically attacking someone in public is apparently a-ok.
If he just dropped a couple f-bombs I don’t think anyone would have said much, but jeez, the whole crowd nearby was calling for the guy to get tossed, so he must have been doing something pretty obnoxious. Agree about simply calling security, though.
I think that was a combination of all the people that were really annoyed with him and glad someone finally tried to shut him up (like when someone finally turns around and screams “SHUT THE HELL UP” and the talkers in the movie theater) and people that just saw him tackle the old guy. It seems like quite a few people must not have seen the whole thing. A few guys grab him and seem to be treating him as the aggressor in the situation.
Anyways, I can’t understand why no one reported him to security (of maybe they did), there would have been plenty of witnesses around and he probably would have been kicked out. Both of the other people were 100% in the wrong, there was absolutely no reason to resort to violence. I’m not sure I’d call it unprovoked,
I’m sure the kid had finally pushed them over the edge, but seriously, they over reacted.
Okay, random website said no one got arrested but all three of them are taking it to court, I have to assume the kid will win. He was annoying, but I don’t think he did anything illegal.
However, that kid was acting like a smartass little shit. I agree you shouldn’t resort to hitting, but talk about egging on. As such, it is entirely his fault and the reactions of the woman and old man are justified to that point.
I agree with you, but what gets me even more is that after she slapped him, he stood back and didn’t lay a hand on her. I know, Dad was disappointed she didn’t slap the smirk off his face and he really was asking for it with the smile, but she was violent towards him and he just stood there and took it* and then Dad felt the need to go and hit him again.
*Personally as much of an ass as he was being he made the right move when he put his hands up and smiled after the slap. I’m sure he was quite aware of how many people were recording it.
This could be the next entry to reality tv, who knows? Like crashing a White House party, or exiting the plane and your career somewhat spectacularly. This guy could end up doing the talk show circuit answering, “What were you thinking?” He’ll be a mid season replacement for someone who sprains their ankle on dancing with the stars before you know it!
