Big Love 3/26 (spoilers)

I agree that the show is steadily improving. One thing we got this ep was a better understanding of the stakes in the Roman/Bill feud. Originally I thought Bill wasn’t in much danger because he wasn’t doing anything actually illegal, while Roman’s married to a 15-yr-old. But it’s actually a bigger deal than that. Roman and Juniper Creek aren’t in the closet and so have nothing to fear from publicity (and obviously they already know how to keep the statutory rape a secret), while Bill, even though he won’t go to jail, will lose his business if he’s exposed.

Good episode.

As someone said above, that’s definitely an interesting angle with the Margene-Ben flirting, especially in light of the quote from last week AND what we know about polygamous societies in general.

I think it’s beyond just giving us a peek at the logistics. I think that’s really going to be a source of plot-lines and tension. The dark of of the neighbor at the end foreshadowed that a bit.

How great is Harry Dean Stanton in this? I said to my wife, “man that dude is creepy” one second before Boss Wife says, “he gives me the creeps.” The singing in the Hummer and the GPS was really funny.

Really good stuff so far. So much to mine.

Hmmm… that’s a thought, but then I would say that Barb isn’t Ben’s mother either (ie. they took him in as a baby due to Joey’s drug problems).

My GF and I were thinking it was more of a suicide foreshadowing. He seemed pretty unhappy in the back of the car too.

I totally agree, i feel like the frist two episodes you were trying to get involved and get hooked- but there was something missing. This episode however was amazing. I am offically hooked.

ronan scares me so much, but I love his scenes. The young girl who just married him is insane and I can’t beleive she stole the i-pod. i wonder what will come of that.

also the margie/older son relationship is so wierd and i can’t help but think something is going to happen there. ewwwww.

i really do enjoy this show and foresee a lot of things unraveling over this season!

Nothing. She doesn’t have the charger or a computer.

…we have no clue if she has the charger or not. Just because we didn’t see it doesn’t mean she didn’t steal it too.

Yeah, we don’t know how much she understands about the technology. Did she even know what it was? Do they have TV and computers in the compound? We know they have Lladro.

That’d be amusing if we see Rhonda throw the iPod and say, damn thing doesn’t work anymore! because she never realized she had to charge it :D.

They’re (heretic/schismatic) Mormons, not Amish!

Finally saw this week’s episode. Too bad there isn’t a term for when a show hits its stride, like the inverse of jumping the shark. Because this show just did so in a major way. As much as I’ve disliked Nicki, my heart went out to her in the final scene when the immediate family came to her. (Why was the horse still there?)

I’d almost be rooting for Margie and Ben to hook up and run away together so that poor naive Margie could have a more healthy life, but damn if I’m not starting to feel that they really do have a loving home and a good place for her.

Granted it’s hard to stomach those monthly “let’s divvy up Bill’s nights” roundtable meetings, but there seems to be something of substance to the life they’re trying to make together. They seem to be trying to pick and choose the best aspects of religion, polygamy, and mainstream American culture in order to create an idealized hybrid family situation. Contrast what they have to what we’ve seen of the compound.

If only Nicki weren’t Roman’s daughter.

What quote from last week?

On first viewing, it seemed way creepy to me. As in, over the top no way did they just do what I think they did creepy. So naturally I rewound to check it out.

As Bill opens the door, Roman is saying “You can tell me” as Nicki coyly giggles “No I can’t.” I’m almost positive Roman was trying to get the details of how to circumvent the home security system, as opposed to what my first thought was. (handjob)

They probally do have TVs and computers (after all they have alot of business interests), but I doubt Rhonda’s ever used them.

In the previous week, they had a mention that the teen-aged boys get driven out of the ploygamous town/compound. What’s Bill going to do if he sees Ben and Margene getting too friendly. . .ground him?
