To the first question, I’m guessing she thought he had enough on his mind for one night.
Probably her quoting scripture and wearing the prairie dress.
I’m not positive, but I think that actor also played the undercover cop that shot Kaylee in the first Firefly episode. There should be a special hell for him.
I think we need more answers on the Alby situation. As usual with this show, it was left intentionally ambiguous…an obvious technique to keep us watching (and it works, although I’m already hooked). He was told very clearly that the Henricksons were no longer his concern. And yet he breaks into Home Plus. This must have been completely against Roman’s wishes. So, what was the purpose of his trip? It goes without saying that we need an explanation of his other disturbing behavior. I’m guessing that his wives must be pretty happy when he goes away on one of his trips. My guess is that Roman will punish him with great vengeance if he finds out what happened.
Also, how is it that Alby and Nicky both have Roman’s last name, when they are born from his 4th wife?
Doesn’t it seem that it’s too early in the show for the family to be breaking apart? I mean Bill and Barb are “cheating”. Nicky is obviously corresponding with her father and spending against the family’s best interest (which puts Bill in an even tighter spot with Roman). Margene is sneaking off with friends that the family has strongly asked her to stay away from. I just can’t see how the season could end with the family still together.
I wondered about this too, but I’m okay with it, for drama’s sake.
It’s like we came in at the middle of the story. The early years of the family – watching them get together and accommodate each other – that would have been interesting, but what happens after the honeymoon is better.
If the only conflict is coming from outside the family – from Roman and the threat of exposure – it wouldn’t be so intriguing.
I don’t understand… Why would she only have 20 minutes for lunch? Kids are at lunch for an hour right? She doesn’t have any other classes (she teaches 2nd grad) I’m sure some teachers spend that time grading and prepping but maybe she doesn’t. Maybe the school also has a music period (with a dedicated Music teacher) and her class’ time corresponds to right after their lunch giving her extra time.
I teach 7th grade and I have half an hour for lunch. I have taught in places where the lunch period was an hour, and if her prep period is right before or after lunch, she could have upwards of 1.5 hours. Plenty of time to dog Bill twice.
Was that Barb’s revenge on Bill? Is it so taxing for Bill that having sex 3 times in one day would not be able to happen? Seems that he had a number of hours between his lunchtime rendezvous with Barb and bedtime with Nicki. I think he’s just not that into Nicki, and her connection to Roman might also be, um, wilting for Bill.
They can be as short as 15 minutes or as long as an hour. It really depends on the school district. If her school had a 45 minute lunch and she had a prep period on either side of it, she’d have plenty of time for a rendezvous with Bill. I think we can suspend our disbelief on this one without too much strain.
Clearly this wasn’t written by a straight male. No guy whips out their erect penis in a car full of guys… nevermind trying to drive with it! Though the Sarah and bringing a friend over was an interesting story. I’m sure Bill and Barb knew there was nothing they could do about it now (she knows), so what are you going to do? Best to keep the people who know close.
I also think that Bill just isn’t into Nikki and the only reason she’s part of the family is to secure the loan that Roman gave Bill.
It must have been written by females because the only creature in HS that would be more afraid to whip out his erect penis in a car full of guys than a str8 male would be a gay male. Even if the episode was written by two gays males, I really doubt they did that in real life. Bottom line: it’s not a straight or gay male thing. Please quit trying to pigeon hole it into a sexual orientation thing.
I grew up in the LDS church, and although I haven’t been a believer since I was about 12, a bunch of the kids I grew up with were still active LDS during our teenage years.
I can pretty much guarantee that your average teenage mormon boy would have been just as weirded out as any other kid by someone suddenly whipping out his hard-on and “driving” with it.
Alby is one of Roman’s children. We saw him a couple weeks back when he showed up at one of Bill’s houses looking all threatening (and told Nickie she was just collateral for Roman’s loan to Bill), and this week Alby picked up the guy at the convenience store and took him to a motel.
He looks like he could be the son of the tavern-keeper on Northern Exposure, whose name I’ve forgotten.
You know that from hanging with the jocks, or that was your perception of it from the outside looking in.
Sure, guys made a lot of dick jokes, and beatin’ off jokes, but they still would have been embarassed by getting a boner for no reason in a car full of other guys. They wouldn’t have drawn attention to it, or tried to drive with it.
My wife actually said to me, “guys never acted like that, did they?” and I told her, “no”.
I don’t think it’s pigeonholing at all. The show certainly does have a lot of homosexual subtext (hey, it’s Showtime!) and it’s one of the things that is keeping me interested.
I still don’t get the Alby thing at all. The guy outside the convenience store looked like he was expecting someone. I assumed their meeting was arranged. It wasn’t?
