I took it to mean that was the local “gay cruising” spot.
I took the whole Alby thing to be about him being some kind of self-hating, still closeted homosexual and he couldn’t go through with it so he faked crazy as a way out.
I also thought the rope/knife stuff was for kidnapping someone in Bill’s family because Roman said, “do what we talked about” (or something) and that didn’t really come across like, “we talked about killing a homo, so do that.”
He picked up the gay guy, on a whim, on the way to his regular task.
According to what I have read, I think so, unless the state is going to start prosecuting adultery and fornication as crimes. He isn’t even guilty of misrepresentation, as he doesn’t publicly claim to be married to Nicki and Margene.
In many real life polygamy cases there is an element of fraud as the “single” wives collect welfare but that is not the case here.
However, as being outed as a polygamist would certainly destroy his business, he has reason to worry.
