Will Sarah and Lois bond? Will Bill have a hearth attack (my bet is that’s the closing scene)?
Well we know where Nikki got her financial skills from! And Bill having Margie take him the ER, that could have been a disaster; what if she actually had to sign stuff as his wife?
I hate how all the male characters are so simple. I can’t relate to any of Bill’s actions. Hell, I can even relate to his three wives better than I can understand what motivates him.
I can tell why Barb allowed Bill to get married. I can understand why Nikki would not want to discuss Barb’s affair with Bill. Barb did not want to lose Bill and Nikki does not want to talk about the notion that Bill does not love her as much as he loves Barb.
I have no freaking clue as to want Bill is getting from all this. Plus, his tolerance for all his problems is beyond human.
The writers need a male consultant at least.
I don’t see Bill as all that simple. I think he’s confused, but it’s subtly played. He’s putting up a strong front to protect his family, but inside, he’s starting to doubt that he did the right thing.
I really think this was one of the best episodes so far. The thing that is abundantly clear to me is that… Bill is not a good father. He really seems to ignore most of the kids. The oldest son is the only one we’ve ever seen him spend actual time with.
And as someone who has had to pee in sinks (I once somewhere that had chronic toilet problems and sink peeing was the best alternative), urine doesn’t stink up place like they portrayed. You poor some dish soap down the drain and run the water and boom… done.
Wanda is by far my favorite of the compound characters.
I really like the way the show turns things around so well with the polygamy. Barb and Bill are cheating with each other and it is treated as an extramarital affair within a monogamist relationship and the reveal that Bill’s brother doesn’t believe in in polygamy anymore is treated as shocking.
The look on Dern’s face as he peeks up from behind Lois was priceless!
I loved this episode - the bit with Nikki’s mom owing $90,000 because Roman’s Prophecies have been a little off lately was so blasé. The sister wives (the SUVS) were horrible. Poor Margine and her scratched car, I felt for her the most. She really does get the short end of the stick so very often in this situation. I can’t believe te season is almost over!
As noted, another great episode. This show really does just keep getting better and better.
I tell you, Bill’s family (with the exception of Joey and Wanda, they could stay with me any time) would last about two seconds in my house. What a bunch of idiots! Could they possibly be more annoying? Don’t even get me started on Bill’s dad. He’s disgusting. Those sister wives are such a clueless bunch. You let them off the compound for a few hours and they go nuts, burn down a motel, scratch Margene’s car, and basically act stupid. Amazing that they could be that protected on the compound. I guess that sheds more light on Nicki’s situation though. To live such a sheltered life and then come out to a place where they send you credit card offers every day … it’s easy to see how she’d get in trouble. Wanda’s reaction when Joey told her he wanted to get an apartment for them outside the compound was interesting too.
I think Margene was upset because instead of asking her if they could borrow her car they asked Bill. They’re starting to stretch credibility about how the Henricksons can keep their lifestyle a secret. And Lois trying to poison her hudband just makes me like her even more now.
But the point is, he would never pour dish soap down the drain. That’s woman’s work! What a foul, foul man.
This episode was intriguing in many ways, but I found so many of the characters so hideous (Bill’s dad and the sister wives in particular) that it was difficult to continue watching.
But obviously not impossible.
I don’t think it was just piss in the drain. The reaction was too much for simply piss.
I thought this was interesting as well… It seems to me that Wanda is a devout follower of the polygymist lifestyle and possibly was even raised at Juniper Creek. We know Joey was a pro football player, and also isn’t he recovering from a gambling or alcohol addiction (or am I remembering this wrong)? When he told he wanted to get a job and get them an apartment outside of the compound she went apeshit and said something about not letting him get near his “temptations”.
I think it was just piss - but we’re talking about creepy old polygymist piss which in my mind smells much much worse than normal piss. Maybe he eats a lot of asparagus…
This series wants to be terrific, but seems to keep getting bogged down in its own muck. There are too many characters I don’t care about, probably because of poor plot development, and little side plots that don’t make any sense (like Alby with the knife and tape: WTF?).
The episode had some good stuff, but the whole sequence where Bill and his brother go to the compound was badly done. The fight outside Bill’s mother’s house was pointless. And fourteen women couldn’t bring Bill down, even in their nightgowns?
I thought it was funny when Bill’s father’s wives were watching the news, and one of them called Condoleezza Rice “uppity”.
Anyone else notice the Rhonda wasn’t among Roman’s 14 wives? Has Roman even consumates their marriage yet?
Have we seen any other siblings of Bill’s? I’d think his father and mother would have had more children.
