Frist off I can’t even believe I’m writing this…didn’t this thing just start?? I am addicted to this show and I realized that this week is the finale! I think a few of my fellow Big Love addict-ies and I are going to have a littel viewing party. Anyone else doing anything for it?
Also, I heard its a top show slated to be nominated for an Emmy, which would be incredible!!
I loved the first half of the season. The last few episodes have been a bit disappointing. The show is losing some credibility with me because parts of the story are a bit too unrealistic and contrived.
Some examples:
-
Margene is unable to operate a washing machine one week, but is able to install a lawn all by herself.
-
Bill buying the old man’s shares to get onto the governing council. In all the years that Roman has been the “prophet”, he must have set up the council so that only he has any authority. Would a real life Bill pay all that money?
-
Rhonda coming to live with the Henricksons. Or even the possibility that Roman would let her venture out on her own for an acting competition. Not bloody likely.
I won’t quibble with #2.
Margene knows how to run the appliances. She misunderstood her neighbor’s suggestion for getting crayon mess out of the dryer. Neighbor thought there was crayon on fabric. Margene probably never had a chemistry class, or whatever class it is where we’re taught about flammability.
Rhonda’s not living with the Hendricksons. She’s just staying over for a few days. I agree about the contrivance here though. I’m surprised that whatever schooling she gets on the compound includes drama class. Is she schooled at the compound?
Rhonda says she hasn’t been to school since she was placed with Roman, so the must be some king of school on the compound (a very basic school). Plus Adaleen was trying to tutor her. Roman seems to enjoy her reciting poetry so he’s indulging her. It’s somewhat plausible that Roman would let her stay with Bill since Nikki is her niece and daughter-in-law. Also Bill knows that Roman would come down on him like the wrath of god if anything happened to Rhonda. What’s up with Rhonda? She likes being married to the Prophet, yet wants to run away to NYC to be an actress. She also has no money and thinks the universe revolves around her.
