Biggest Loser

Anyone watching? For some reason, my youngest son loves this program, so I end up watching it.

If they didn’t want old people on the show, why did they let them in? Next week, they lose again, and presumably the bad-knee woman goes home. They had to drop Johnny, but he was their only shot at someone actually losing weight.

Anna is no Jillian. Hard to say what she could do if she had a team that had any physical capabilities, but this stunt casting isn’t going to work long term.

The other new guy will probably work out.

Bob is very good at making grown men cry (at least former NFL players).

Any idea why they didn’t bring back any of last year’s new trainers?

What happened to Jillian?

Sounds like she was mostly just tired of the show.

Guilty. :smack:

I watch it. I’m hooked. I can’t explain it. I cry almost every show. It’s ridiculous.

Spoilers ahead!

Boy this week’s show was a real tearjerker, huh. I’m surprised the young team keeps losing, and they really seem to have the strongest bond among them. Plus their trainer seems like a real badass. I hope they pull through next week. I think after this week they’ll do anything to keep from having to vote someone else off.

Yeah, Anna isn’t as strong of a trainer as Gillian was. She’s a heckuva lot better than the chick trainer from last season though. I thought she was consistently awful. Anna surprises me sometimes, and the team members seem to respect her too.

Alright, I feel sufficiently silly now to sign off.

And another old one drops. What an ill-conceived concept - the weakest group with the weakest trainer. Nothing in particular against Anna - but professional athlete <> trainer.

I think maybe Dolvett is hitting his stride, so things will probably be more competitive once they eliminate the last oldie.

Do you think they’ll make team Over the Hill be a two-person team next week? At which point, there is probably no reason for them to participate in the challenge - they’d be better off working out to try and lose enough weight to stave off another elimination.

This season is my first time watching it. Gotta say, the implementation of this week’s challenge was terrible. IMHO –

How it should be done: Fireman line – form a line, person in the back hands off the box to the next person in line and then you move to the front of the line. That balances things out between teams with different numbers of people (fewer team members means you’ll have to move to the front more often, but you’ll have to cover less distance each time).

How the want it to be done: Hand the box off to anyone at any time, just make sure you’re not moving forward with the box.

How it actually went: Hand the box off to anyone at any time, and if you’re on the red team, then sure, walk with the box if you feel like it. Goes double if your name is Ramon. Who cares about the rules anyway?

Props to Ramon for carrying the sandbags the entire five miles, though…

Almost forgot – Bonnie was an idiot for booting Coach. If she was picked him over Becky because she knew she couldn’t compete in the long run against him, then ok…but Blue Team isn’t going to sniff a challenge win without him.

Wife and I watch every season religiously. We’re both fitness nuts and enjoy seeing the transformation not only on the outside but on the inside as well. I think that gets lost in the gameplay format of the show - even the people who don’t lose a ton of weight are still so much healthier on the inside. They usually end up off of most (if not all) of their meds for blood pressure, cholesterol, etc etc.

It’s about changing your life for the better - no matter who is your trainer and what challenges you win.

People still watching?

Was anyone else squirming uncomfortably whenever Ramon proclaimed his undying love for Jessica? How much clearer could it be that to her, it was a fling?

And by the by, Ramon, from here on out I’m giving you a “once per episode” limit on the number of times you’re allowed to say Jessica’s name on camera. Anything beyond that will result in a beating. Thank you.

Not watching. It’s too aggravating to endure, watching them drag out an hour show to two hours, week after week.

Still watching. Yeah, the whole Ramon and Jessica thing kinda sprouted up out of nowhere and took on a life of its own. Ramon was one of my favorites when the season started, but now he’s turned into such a pisser and moaner, and the whole, “I plan to spend the rest of my life with this girl!” thing is like:  . I’m sure he’ll get a kick out of watching his “girl” romp around with those big hunky NFL football players when he watches back through the season.

There really aren’t that many people that I could say I actually like this season. I think Becky and Vinny are probably my favorites - they just seem to be the most genuine people on there. I find the rest of them kind of annoying.

Penultimate episode was last night – who’s still on board?

(Spoilering, just in case folks haven’t watched this one yet)
Antone and John had the highest percentage, and Ramon wins the marathon to get back in for the final three – exactly the way I called it two weeks ago (although I suppose it would’ve been more impressive if I’d called it here, rather than just to my girlfriend).

Ramon definitely wants this, but he ain’t getting it. This is completely John’s competition to lose, and Antone is the only one with any kind of shot at beating him. Take a look at the percentage lost for each of them so far:

John: -40%
Antone: -34.5%
Ramon: -24.5%

A 14.5% deficit is going to be way to much to make up in…errrr, I don’t know…how much time is there between the taping of the marathon and the live finale, anyway? Doubt it would matter, though – Antone might be able to make up that 5.5% of ground, but Ramon is just too far back.

And I’m ok with that…I liked Antone throughout and thought Ramon was kind of a tool. John was pretty much a self-serving dickweed, but he played this entire thing exactly the way he needed to, so I really can’t fault him.
