But there’s really no proof one way or the other. So while you or I or even Tom Brokaw can assume with 99.99% certainty that he’s lying, you can’t accuse a President to his face of doing so with no proof whatsoever unless you lack all professional integrity, are a raving lunatic or, in the case of Joe Wilson…both.

If you did, you would be so consumed with rage that you would not be able to rest until you had gathered all the townsfolk, armed yourself with pitchforks & torches, and surrounded her home, demanding that she surrender, repent, and rip off her own head in penance.
Do you remember back during the presidential primary season when you and a few other posters around here were so gobsmacked to find out what sleazy, lying scumbags the Clinton’s really were? And how I pointed out that those of us who were listening to Rush Limbaugh during Clinton’s first run for office in the early nineties were already well aware of it, and how you’d have been aware of it too if the media hadn’t been keeping his virtual non-stop duplicity under wraps?
The issue isn’t so much Clinton (and it’d be easier to forget his sleazy ass if he wasn’t constantly trying to interject himself into the public’s consciousness) but the fact that the media time and time again allows him to lie straight to our face about things that are a matter of public record and about which there is no question. They’ve been doing that since the early nineties and it’s been going on ever since. It’s not like they just suddenly started giving him a pass now that he’s out of office.
I don’t understand why everyone is taking Starving Artist at face value - did everyone watch this program? Isn’t the most obvious explanation that SA is posting something that only happened in his mind?

While we can never really know for certain whether Clinton was lying or not about inhaling (and not that it will ever really matter), Clinton himself isn’t really a lair so much as he is a dissembler. They are very close, but if you note many of Clinton’s more famous/infamous assertions such as this, he’ll admit something partway while either holding something back or giving a misleading impression of anything left over. Whether it’s admitting to trying marijuana (which is the bigger admission) but not inhaling or not having sex with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky (but sex is pretty strictly defined according to him and doesn’t necessarily include all the other stuff he did with her).
In any event, with all the lying going on by politicians these days over consequential and relevant things (such as UHC or that firearms and ammunition are not about to be outlawed by President “he took our jyawbs!” Obama), I can only conclude that if you’re still outraged over Clinton, you haven’t been paying much attention, Starvie.

Look. This is a liberal message board. I am pretty vocal and direct about my objections to the liberal POV and liberal politicians. It stands to reason that that is gonna piss people off and that after a period of time, some of them will stop reading what I have to say. I’ve stopped reading myself what certain posters around here have to say because I either don’t like what they say or how they say it (or because it’s the same thing over and over, which is also a complaint sometimes lodged against me).

As noted above, it would be easier to sympathize with your outrage about this if it wasn’t so clear that the only thing that really bothers you is that a Democratic politician is getting the benefit of it.
When the media time and again allows Republican politicians to lie straight to our face about things that are a matter of public record, you’re completely indifferent. So it’s hard to take your complaints seriously in this case.

Well, I’m sorry but Clinton blatantly lied when he shook his finger in our face and stated unequivocally that he had not had sex with that woman, and he lied unequivocally when he said to Brokaw that he was just trying to be funny when he said he didn’t inhale.
My concerns when he was in office were that if he would lie so blatantly about things that could so easily be disproved, what the else was he lying about that no one knew about?
And I’ve destested him since he left office because he’s continually in our face trying to act the honorable elder statesman.
