The pub owner says he figures it just didn’t occur to Bill to pay. How could you not remember to pay?! I’m not posting this so we can start another debate abut Bill- devil or angel? I just thought it was a funny story.
Some think this behavior was picked up from hanging around with the Queen. Evidently she doesn’t pay when she goes out either.
Ooh- this just in from Peter Jennings. It seems that the White House called during the commercial break to clarify this story. An aide had offered to pay the bill, but the pub said it was on the house. Mayber a server extended the offer without clearing it with the pub owner? He seemed pretty steamed in the story (before the tabloid picked up the check).
