Bill would bar AZ schools from teaching anything "anti-Western"

Russel Pearce makes Barry Goldwater look like Madelyn Murry O’Hare. He’d overturn Not only Brown v. Board of Education, but the Emancipation Proclamation, if he could.

He goes down the border to encourage the minutemen a lot.

Dunno about that, but I bet he’s seen a Pauly Shore movie.

…other than the Suns’ starting frontcourt.

Actually, I just looked it up and you really don’t have any black people. 3.8% of the population as of 2006!

 You gotta be fuckin’ kiddin’ me!

And yet, roughly half of self-identifying Hispanics who voted did so in favor of resticting and punishing illegal immigration - even to make English the official language! Are they racists? source another source

I disagree with this most wholeheartedly.

It’s an opinion, not everyone is going to agree.

I’ll tell you when I first made the allegorical connection in my mind:

I had just gotten laid off and I picked up a part-time job delivering auto parts from a warehouse. On one of my deliveries I got in a little fender bender and called it in to headquarters. Their reponse?

“Illegal alien hit you, huh?”

“No, it was actually partly my fault and I have no idea what the person’s nationality or citizenship status is.”

I get back to the warehouse - different from the headquarters I called into - and 3 different people asked what happened:

“I got in a fender bender”

“Fucking wetback hit you, huh?”

“No.”

. . . ad nauseam.

This is one instance in an ocean of similar sentiment.

Imagine this all took place in the early days of National Socialism in Germany. Would it be “fucking Jew hit you, huh”? I think so.

It’s a complicated topic that is too big for this thread, but your statistics are not news to me.

Like Pat Buchanan whose ancestors had to deal with “No Irish Need Apply,” these folks have Got Theirs and don’t wanna share. That’s understandable. But I doubt one such as Pearce sees any important distinction between them and the wetbacks. (How did that word get started, BTW? I’ve seen pictures of the Rio Grande – if you snuck across it you might get wet feet, but that’s all.)

But many legal hispanics expected that also the law was going to be changed to allow a path to legalization, they got the stick they expected but not the carrot, and the current silence of McCain (I have seen reports that he now sounds like dismissing the ideas that he had just to be elected president) is showing that any Hispanic that expected change with the enforcements was had.

Incidentally, I’m a history teacher now and on top of that a Hispanic in Arizona that was once an illegal.

How is that for being applicable to the subject and the hijacks?

While I have not encountered direct racism as reported by **Cisco **(but seeing black lawn jockeys in the front of some houses in Flagstaff was disturbing), I can report that at least most of the people **Cisco **describes are indeed aware of the racism and do behave properly most of the time, but as soon as they think they are out of the hearing range of a Hispanic they do show their true self, at a previous workplace I caught one ex-coworker wondering aloud why I they hired that “kind” of people after the conversation turned to my accent, to be fair the supervisor advised him not to get there, but it may be because the supervisor had noticed that I was on the next cubicle outside of the field of vision of the cow-orker.

Right now Sheriff Joe Arpaio thinks it is cute to make a 2008 “light” edition of the operation, to me it is more frightening to realize that many continue to support him even if his idea will risk once again the county from losing millions of dollars when legal people will be affected by his operations and make a lawsuit against him and the county.

And even though on many occasions Arpaio loses the cases and the money the people still elects him! The impression I get is that a good number of people do not care for the loses, I guess cutting off the nose to spite the face is welcomed by many here just show how inhumane they can be.

As for the main theme, how does Russell Pearce expect me to deal with the Mexican American war (1846)?

Truth can be ugly to modern ears, but Pearce is just trying to fix that by attempting to cleanse the past.

So using this definition of Western civilisation, would teaching a course about the benefits of a universal healthcare system be banned by this bill? It’s a subject that seems against American values but something clearly enjoyed by the rest of Western civilisation.
