I’ve been reading a little on Billy Meier. So what’s everyone’s take on the Billy Meier Story, and has anyone been able to disprove his photos completely? Also what’s the thoughts on whether we’ve been visited? If only 1% of sightings are legit, then that’s still an encounter from another world or dimension.
Who is Billy Meier? Cite, please.
From Wiki:
Wow…I have no words.
I just read that entry. Bull goose loony.
Well, I’d like to welcome you to the straight dope first of all.
Second, you will probably find most people here are quite skeptical that things like this are probably not truly from extra terrestrials, and that these images are misrepresentations, fakes, or out and out lies.
The burden will be on Billy Meier to prove that these are extraterrestrial and not on the skeptics to try to prove they are not. This point can be explained in more detail if you aren’t sure what that means or why it should be so.
Thirdly, I think we might find this thread moved to a different forum, that allows for opinions and debates as opposed to facts, but I’m not a moderator to make that decision.
Welcome again…good luck!
It is frankly amazing the kinds of things humans believe. Do we really need wonder so badly, in a world where the sun rises and sets every day, and there are billions of varieties of bugs all doing their thing, and where there are birds that decorate their homes in a beautiful artistic manner to attract their mates?
I just saw a horrid video the other day of a particular kind of wasp that lays its egg in a still-living tarantula and the larva continues to feed when its born, very carefully avoiding all major organs. Horrifying, but holee shit - pretty freakin amazing too.
And yet we still have to turn to old white men who say that old white men just happen to be visiting from other planets.
Billy Meier, guilty as charged.
Yeah, sounds legit.
What makes you think even %1 of sightings are “legit”?
What makes you think that a “legit” sighting must be from another planet or plane of existence?
Good overview of the Billy Meier hoax.

The Neurologica blog article is priceless. Those are some of the least convincing fake photos I’ve ever seen…
Yeah. “There it is next to that tree. That’s a remarkable bit of UFO piloting there. The pilot appears to have a wide open field in which to navigate, but chooses, for some reason, to nuzzle up next to the one tree standing in the middle of the field.” Good stuff.
We’ve got this guy here in SF:

(His sign changes from week to week)
If even 1% of his allegations are correct then it’s possible that, say, Bill Clinton was indeed guiltied by 12 galaxies with the Alphatronic Rocket Society.
However I think most people would agree that it is far more likely that he’s just a bit nutty and 100% of his allegations are crazy talk.
Somebody who claims that Pleidians vanished a tree and then altered the mind of a farmer to remove all memories of it and that the Men In Black were behind some kind of plot to pass off the Dean Martin show’s backup singers as space aliens strikes me as being much closer to the SF Sign Guy than someone who has had actual encounters with extraterrestrials.
At least they are Nordic aliens. I hate the Greys.
That photo at the top is something we’re required to disprove?
HAHHAAAHAHAAHA!
I don’t get why people go through the trouble of creating an account, making a single post on a ridiculous subject, and then never coming back. What’s the point?
They’re fishing-if there’s any positive response they stick around.
How is the “chisel the curb in a safety vest” guy doing?
Capt
Taken away by Venusians, or possibly it was the Solid Gold dancers.
Hmm…This is about typical of most message boards. Nothing real constructive said here. It’s important to be realistic, but I can see alot of contempt for open minds here. Thinking that we know that some phenomenons are by default wrong, closes the door for actual factual scrutiny. If there’s one thing I know is that we as a species are adolescents in the knowledge of the universe. Aliens seem a little silly I’ll admit, but once a phenomenon has grown to a certain point, when do we start taking it seriously? Thanks for the posts…I think I’ll continue reading Cecil Adams, but not asking “silly” questions. I do appreciate your time folks.
