Binarydrone and the odd compliment

Saturday, I cleaned out our sink drain with Liquid Plumber. It was draining very slowly so I purchased this wonder chemical, dumped it down the drain, waited 15 minutes and then ran hot water.

I did all of this before by beloved spouse got up. As she preformed her morning face washing and other girly bathroom things (that I don’t want to know about (I hear it’s sort of like looking at the elder gods, learning about girly bathroom stuff)), she must have noticed because she asked me if I “did something” to the sink.

Well, naturally I informed her of the Liquid Plumber, to which she replies “good job”.

Now I know my wife, we have been together for close to 14 years. Believe me when I tell you that this was not a “thank you” good job. It was a good job as if I had actually done something that required some form of skill or prowess.

So this is my theory: I think that, as a big dumb male husband creature, I am always probably being artificially complimented for trivial tasks and that I was able to notice it this time because I had been awake for a while and she had just gotten up (meaning I was only 5 or so steps behind her mentally at that point). So I have my eye on her now!
