There is a scene in DAD where James Bond holds a book that I think is titled “Birds of the West Indies”. Is this the book by James Bond from which Fleming got the name of his character?
(This scene happens when JB is in Havana.)
There is no mention of it in the trivia section of www.imdb.com
I certainly thought it was - another little homage to the Bond history. Unfortunately, I was practically the only person in the theater to get a laugh out of it.
My understanding is that there were a host of classic JB references thoughout the film, this just being one of them. Others: Halle Berry/Ursulla Andress entrance, the Union Jack on the parachute, Q’s storage trunk with the jetpack, suitcase, and other old hardware, the reintroduction of the Aston Martin (which, IIRC, hasn’t been used in a number of years), and assorted quotes (“Diamonds are for Everyone”, etc.).
Yeah. I’ve got a copy of that book. (They were still selling it at the Gift Shop at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC, the last time I was there). I gave a copy to my Bond fanatic friend as a Christmas present a few years ago.
There were Astons in Goldeneye (driving around in Monte Carlo) and Tomorrow Never Dies (driven to the Danish “lesson” early on) but they haven’t been the “action” car for a while.
