birthday activity in NYC?

I need help coming up with something fun for my friends and me to do this Thursday in Manhattan. (My birthday is actually Wednesday, but all my friends are busy, so the fun is postponed until Thursday.) We already thought of having a picnic or going to a jazz concert in Bryant park, but no one seems particularly excited by these options. I’m hoping someone has some other slightly more exciting idea. The only requirements are that it be free or very cheap, and it can’t involve alcohol. Also, it would be nice to get outside and enjoy the nice weather before it gets too cold, but that’s not a requirement. Anyway, brainstorm ho!

Mortified, in which people tell true stories about their childhood, is this thursday:

$15… well, it’s a lot more expensive than free, but its not too bad.

My friend Scott, previously featured on “This American Life,” and a Moth StorySlam winner (so what I’m saying is, he tells a heckuva story) will be telling of his embarassing-yet-hilarious-to-recount science project intended to prove the existence of gnomes.

Ooh! That looks really fun, thanks!!!

I don’t know what you could do, but happy birthday, anyway!

Did you make it? it was kind of a crazy night, weather-wise. My friend slayed.
