Looking at the election threads the first thought I had was “Oh boy, another set of election threads about how evil the Republicans are, this happens every election.”
Then I actually started to think about it. I registered in Feb 2000. I have only been here for one set of elections, and I hadn’t been around that long when they did occur the first time. Somehow my brain merged all of the election bitches I have heard over my whole life, my time on the board, and the threads the first time around, into a life time of reading election threads on this board. I started on the Straight Dope boards 30ish months ago and the election was only 24 months ago. But somehow the former seems about 10 times as long ago as the latter in my mind.
Truly mundane and pointless, just one of those times when the subjectivity of memory and time kinda freaked me out.
P.S. not an election thread, the election is part of the background, not the point.
