Black licorice

Yes, I know it comes in many forms and some are better than others. But in general, do you like it?

Poll to come.

Generally no, rarely yes. I have to be in the mood for it.

Like circus peanuts.

It’s a direct creation of Satan and his minions.

Depends.

American sweet black licorice: Yum.
Scandinavian salty black licorice: Yuck(-ish).

I always pick the black licorice jelly beans out and hoard them for myself.

Love it!

I’d love to buy a bag of just those.

I’m hoping that this poll can tell us what percentage of the population only eats 80% of a package of Chuckles.

Awful stuff. Shouldn’t be considered candy.

If it’s fairly sweet, yes.

Are Good N Plenty considered candy-coated black licorice?

LMGTFY, ZipperJJ: Yes they are.

While I love the black licorice flavored jelly beans, I really dislike eating actually black licorice.

I love licorice anything, even salmiakki.

I loathe it.

Yet, somehow, I can’t resist licorice all-sorts, or those things with a wee li’l string of licorice in a thick candy coating.

I like sweet, not salty, licorice, on rare occasion. But if I’m going to have something sweet, I prefer good chocolate.

I never acquired the taste for salmiakki, but watched people put it into their bottles of koskenkorva, until Koskenkorva created a salmiakki version. Too much like Nyquil (yechh!) for my taste.

I’m the same way.

I like the licorice from Trader Joe’s, but I have to be careful lest I over-consume.

Horrible, horrible stuff. Yet I love fennel in my pork. Go figure.

Yes, and I’m the only one in my family who does, so I never have to worry about it mysteriously disappearing on me!

I only like it as a tea ingredient.

I’ve never liked it. On the other hand, I love cooking with fennel and anise, and have enjoyed drinking raki and the like in the past.

Correct.

And correct.

You can get bags of just black jelly beans, as they are quite the specialised favourite.

S’nasty.

My mom sometimes chews Black Jack gum and just the smell makes me gag.
